This is true for many people. On this point, that guy is demonstrably wrong.
His episode 3 and 4 review is funny. Especially the violin moment!
I think he may be wrong in a certain sense, but completely not wrong persay. I mean did the Ultimate comics create the same level of readership we saw back in the 60s? To my knowledge, not so much. So yes it did bring in new readers, but how many actually stayed when the UU went through its problems? I think it created some new readers, but did not herald a massive trend that turned around the lagging comic book industry's fortunes.
Really the money to be made in comics will be made by using the characters in other media, so the ultimate comics didn't really change the shift from printed media to visual media as the primary money maker for comic book companies.
