Ultimate Marvel Timeline / Chronology (v. 3.0)

So there's a lot going against me even keeping up with this timeline...mainly the lousy continuity. But, I think I might have a solution. With the previewed page from Ultimates Saga, it seems that the timeline is reflected as 2007 around the time Ultimates 3 takes place. This might contradict dates in Ultimates Vol. 1 and Ultimate Nightmare, but with some rearrangement I might be able to salvage the timeline. I'm waiting until Ultimates Saga is actually released, and Ultimates 3 to see if there's any further corroborating evidence, but for now I'm gonna be working on a way to make sense of it all. Stay tuned...

...and no, the answer isn't "Ben punched the dinosaur".

I'm thinking that the current UFF and USM arc occur after UXM's Sentinels as we can see that Nick Fury is absent in the former books with SHIELD taken over by Carol Danvers.

Or is the reason why Nick Fury's missing is because he is busy with the Legacy Virus? I doubt it though.

I tend to ignore the years they put and believe that the Ultimate Universe is in a sliding timeline.

You're probably right. I'll re-read the recent arcs up to and including Sentinels and rearrange it.

But where in UFF was Nick Fury's absence mentioned? I don't remember that. And its only recently been mentioned in USM (in the current arc)...or was there a mention in Ultimate Knights I'm not remembering? If Fury shows up at the end of Death of a Goblin, who knows? And maybe he's absent from SHIELD cuz he's getting a new arm or something after Ultimates 2 (keep in mind the continuity of Ultimate Power vs. USM's Clone Saga is a mess anyway).

I tend to ignore the years they put and believe that the Ultimate Universe is in a sliding timeline.

That might be the only way to continue listing it. Instead of specific years, I'll have to resort to "12 years earlier" and "Year 2", etc.

As a last resort. In the meantime (depending on what we learn from Ultimates Saga and Ultimates 3) I can still salvage the specific year references.

Sliding timeline can be the answer, but it would be a shame since Bush is shown in so many Ultimate comics.

After re-reading UFF, it appears that Fury may be still be in SHIELD but just not on the frontlines. Danvers calls up a "Colonel" at one point to get backup from the Ultimates and Mar-Vehl. Another part when SS drops her from the sky, she contacts Fury that "if he can hear her signal" to deal with Silver Surfer.

I have a question about Against All enemies, and maybe it's place on the time-line. The Black Widow is never, ever, mentioned, which could suggest post Ultimates 2, but it's obviously not. Could it maybe be placed earlier during the time-line, during any times while she was away (If there are any)? Or was it just a continuity glitch since this was written post Ultimates 2? We know it takes place a bit over a year since Ultimates One for sure...

I just assume she was busy on a covert op or something. It is strange how she wasn't included at all (even in mention), but as far as I'm concerned it doesn't cause the placement of the novel to be adjusted.

hey im not sure if this was asked already, but how come Spider-man: Battle for NY was not included in the timelime?

where is kourtis now?

today's his 18th birthday

ourchair, get on that.

Our friend who likes to keep registering and PMing people about the errors in the timeline is now attempting to register under multiple user names which are currently variations of "whereisultimatemarvelteamup#9onthetimeline?"

For that reason alone, anything that user has ever said should be immediately discounted and discredited.

I was thinking of throwing UMTU 9 on there with a note that the author considers it apocryphal (though I do not!). For completeness' sake. I like that this could be used as a checklist as well as a timeline.

hey, i've been reading the forums for a while, but i just registered now, so it's nice to meet all of you :)
anyways, i'm posting because i was reading my ultimate issues again, and i found some reference to the year in some issues being 2001 and not 2003 as stated in the timeline. i dunno if this was posted somewhere before in this topic, it's kinda big so i didn't really read all posts, but here it goes :p

x-men #11

wraith asks if the weapon x project is going to be shut in two years, and general ross confirms it's going to be closed in 2003. i did understand general ross speaking as if 2003 was 2 years from the actual date, so i thought it was a reference to the year being 2001.

spider-man #12

peter gets a disk with footage of the kingpin killing mr.big, and the date on the disk says that the murder happened in 2001 (06-11-01)

well, i hope i helped on something, but either way i just feel more confused :p
i think marvel kinda screwed up with the timelime when that newspaper on ultimates saga said 2007, but then again, if we followed a timeline in the amazing spider-man, wouldn't peter be like 50 years old or more? :p
anyways, nice to meet all of you :)

btw, sorry if i made any spelling mistakes, i'm from brazil, so english is not my native language :X

I feel left out...he never PMs me. :(

Thats actually a really good idea. People still ask me about that on other boards I've posted the timeline.

This was true at the time it came out, but to correspond better with the advancement of time and more prominent and specific time references in corresponding titles, I nudged it up.

I kind of just interpret it as Wraith being told by Ross that instead of having 2 years, he has a few months when being told they're being phased out between then and winter 2003. Its a big assumption and skewed interpretation, but necessary to make sense of other dates.

Yup. Thats about the time the issue came out, so thats when it was dated. There are also background dates (I remember a message board Peter was posting on reflecting a 2005 date) that contradict the timeline--and the fact that Peter still hasn't turned 16. This has to do with the fact that Bendis never wants Peter to age, yet keeps him interacting in prominent ways with other Ultimate characters whose timelines do progress, as well as the fact that background dates in his own title show the advancement of time. Its just another one of those things.

Again, another one of those things. But, so far, there's no reason to assume that Ultimates Saga/Ultimates 3 takes place in the same period of time Ultimate Spider-Man does. The Spider-Man we see in Ultimates 3 likely (and hopefully) will be an older Peter, to account for the advancement in time (2 years) since Ultimates 2.

No problems, man, you did great, and thanks for posting. Look forward to you posting some more!
