Ultimate Marvel Timeline / Chronology (v. 3.0)

So the ad for the new Direct-to Video Dr. Strange movie says the DVD will contain the best animation from Marvel video games, so my hope is that we might get the whole of the USM story on there.

Oh all the other chases were easy , the electro one though I hate , climbing up and jumping to climb up again and if you did it slightly wrong or fell off tall building he escaped. Still annoys me when I replay the game

I found the Electro chase easier than the Beetle chase. Just use the super jumps to get up the buildings...whatever. Kind of off topic anyway.

Don't hold your breath.

DIrishB can i just say thank you so much to this post. I love it and it has helped me so much in my quest to get the timeline sorted, but i do have to say one thing.

You have got Ultimates 3 in 2005. I agree with you on that yes, but you have set Ultimate Fantastic Four Ultimatum and Ultimate X-Men Ultimatum before it. It has been stated that Ultimates 3 and Ultimate Origin are both going to be crossover storys which will lead up to the Ultimatum arc. So i would set Ultimate Origin and Ultimates 3 at the beggining of 2005 and then Ultimatum after.

Thanks Again

Welcome to the site. Judging by your good manners and grammar and the mods letting you post, you're not Ultimate Squirrel again, which is good because as someone else said, Fantastic Beard is a great name.

I hadn't heard that, thanks. I've changed it to reflect that. Keep in mind though, anything unreleased is only tentatively placed until its released. Besides...from past experience, its best not to put too much stock into what the writers or editors say about storylines until they're actually released and can be verified. For example, an off-hand comment by Loeb had a lot of people thinking Ultimate Power took place between Ultimates 3 and 4 instead of its rightful place between Ultimates 2 and 3. Later on someone correctly answered an online query as to when it takes place.

I agree. Fantastic Beard would be a great name for a porn star.

I had no idea the new Ultimates book was out yet.

Came out Tuesday. I picked up a copy at Barnes and Noble. Obviously takes place very soon before Ultimates 2. I'm about 3/4 through it, spent a few hours yesterday afternoon charging through it. Its better than the first novel, much more in line with the political tone Millar gave the book as opposed to the first novel which had much more of a science fiction slant.

Cool. I might stop by after work and pick it up.

Or. . . I've been kind of seeing a girl who works at Barnes and Noble and gets a killer discount. . . but I've been trying to avoid her this whole week because I don't like her that much. . .

So your going to just use her to get the discount...

I've been looking for this book, I new it was coming out soon. It figures it came out the one week I don't go to the book store.

It was never addressed. Its just assumed he escaped somehow. Electro's personal timeline works like this: we first encounter him during the "Learning Curve" arc in USM, he gets his *** whupped by Spidey and is knocked unconcious and spends awhile in a coma. He wakes up, kills some Feds, and is captured by the Ultimates. He somehow escapes or is let out by SHIELD, and makes his appearance in the game, doing some work for Roxxon and testing out Venom's abilities. He then gets beaten, again, and picked up by SHIELD...again. The events of Ultimate Six take place and he escapes custody...yet again. Then he gets beaten again by Spidey and the Ultimates, and is imprisoned, again. Man, Electro's whole criminal career is quite repetitive when you think about it. Anyway, we haven't heard anything out of him since, but I'm sure he'll manage to escape again and cause a bit more trouble before being put down and imprisoned, all over again.

Not to make it seem like I'm taking joy in correcting you... but that was Trask Ind. not Roxxon.

Also about the Clone arc. I may be wrong but doesn't Nick Fury having his arm and Nick saying, "Send some of the A team over to the Baxter Building." mean that the Ultimates are still under S.H.I.E.L.D. jurisdiction. And wouldn't that put the Clone saga some time before Ultimates 2 # 13?

So, reading Against All Enemies, they make a number of references to it being the year 2007. This means that, if it is before Ultimates 2, which it obviously is, then Ultimates 2 must take place late 2007 (see my Nancy Pelosi theory) and this novel early-mid 2007. This moves up a lot of stuff year-wise on the timeline (and creates some impressive time-gaps. Stupid Continuity).

That seems like something that only occurs because this person doesn't write comic books. Can we consider a story in cannon but certain details out? Maybe this book takes place in the Ultimate Ultimate Universe

The only thing is, this time-line now corroberates the presence of Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the house--and event that doesn't happen in our world until post-election 2006--in 2007. One of the stated early purposes of the Ultimate line was to have a world that very closely mirrors our own, but with supers. That's why it has included so many references to actual people, especially in our government.

Obviously, this is all a problem with Comic Book sliding-scale time-frame. Nancy Pelosi is speaker of the house because she is NOW. The dates are 2007 because we are in 2007.

I wish there was some way to make 2003-2007 be "one year" rather than 4.

You got me.

Actually, Fury having an arm apparently makes no difference. I assume he'll either get a cybernetic or maybe even biological replacement. However, you do make some good points about the "A Team" etc. The reason I placed it as I did is because the Clone Saga arc must take place after Ultimate Power, because its shown that Kitty and Peter are still dating in that mini. And its known Ultimate Power takes place after Ultimates 2. Not to mention Nick Fury is sporting two arms in Ultimate Power. Thems the breaks, kid. This is the curse of Ultimate continuity.

Actually, the only obvious and straight-forward date given was 2006, and that was mentioned by Tony in that remark about some type of law or bill...I can't remember specifically. In terms of that, I just assume getting a bill to pass might take a couple years.

But there was the specific date of 2002 given in Ultimates Vol. 1, and the specific date of 2004 in Ultimate Nightmare, and its specifically said that the Gah Lak Tus incident occurred the same year as Ultimate Power...meaning 2004.

You're applying too much of our real-world timeline to the Ultimate timeline. Its a whole 'nother 'verse. Just assume Pelosi became the Speaker in 2004 or earlier in the Ultimate verse.

I don't even know how you are still doing this.

It seems so screwed now.

Honestly, its been screwed since the beginning...or very close to it. I think its one of the things that keeps me coming back...trying to make sense of something thats just impossible to make sense to. My therapist tells me it all relates to the God complex I seem to have. ;)

So I need a question answered for the purpose of ironing out some of the more prevalent Ultimate continuity snafus in the recent books. Most importantly, making sense of Ultimate Power, Ultimates 2, USM's Clone Saga arc, etc.

And so, I need someone to answer this question for me (since I don't have access to the single issues which are at home, while I am at my parent's using their computer). The question is: Does Thor make any appearances in Ultimate Power? If not, I just might be able to make some sense of the past year's Ultimate storylines...well, more so than the current timeline reflects, anyway. Let me know. Thanks.
