Thor Movie

How would you rate Thor?

I can understand some people's liking the idea of Craig as Bond, but I'm glad he's not going to play Thor. Thor is a God. Craig just doesn't have the striking good looks that seem reminiscent of a God. His face is too...googly-eyed and lacking in a defined-jawline to EVER pull off Thor in my mind, no matter how good an actor he might be (I've never been impressed, personally). Brad Pitt has been mentioned for years post-Ultimates, but he might be a little too pretty, and in my mind he doesn't possess the right body type. Pitt has more of a swimmer's build...Thor's body should be represented by someone more like the Rock in terms of build. Finding that combination, along with the ability to act, will be tough.

THIS.

And I still think that Josh Holloway would make a great Ultimates-style Thor. We need that half-hippie, half-god rebel character. Millar has a posse. I'm part of that posse. Let's roll.

How should Thor be handled in a movie?

How should Thor be handled in a movie? Should he have his Ultimate or 616 costume? Should people just accept he is a god like in the 616 universe or assume he is crazy like in the Ultimate Universe?

That's something that can be discussed in this thread.

Alright thanks.

Now if you all want to have the Ultimate Thor, you have to keep in mind this would be a solo film, so he wouldn't have Nick Fury or the Ultimates to play off of. Like the Iron Man movie, the film would be limited to Thor's villains and supporting cast. Now Loki is an obvious villain, but if you are going with is or is he not crazy route you need a normal human character for him to play off of. Now since Jane Foster is only human supporting cast member of note for Thor, you would have to include her, as a nurse who takes care of this supposed crazy person and a potential love interest, someone who could be skeptical about Thor's claims.

I completely agree with this. Pitt is a good actor and a good-looking blonde guy, and people immeadiately say he should be Thor because of this. But he just isn't a big guy. Thor needs to be a big guy.

Having said that..... Kevin McKidd, who is only slightly bigger than Pitt, would make up for it with his sheer ancient-like quality. Pitt doesn't seem like somebody who's been around the way McKidd does.

I just wish they use his Ultimate costume.

I like that costume better too, though maybe tone it down a bit. But things you can do with an Ultimate Thor like character (though with certain 616 elements blended in for good measure.) I like the whole, is he or is he not crazy idea, though it have to done a bit differently then in Ultimate Universe.

For example perhaps he shifts between Midgard and Asgard through out the film (the work of Loki trying to drive him mad) and the audience can wonder, is he really in Asgard or is he just insane and having a delusion? But like I said he won't have the Ultimates or Fury to play off, so besides the norse gods, the only real human character he can play off of is Jane Foster.

Anytime a superhero movie is even brought up, nine times out of ten there are hundreds of clueless fanboys and girls who immediately proclaim that Brad Pitt is the best, most reasonable choice in terms of casting. Honestly, you could reveal that Marvel is planning on releasing a Patsy Walker: Hellcat film and the next day you can check imdb and there will be at least 12 posts that say "BRADD PIT WOUDL MAYK PIRFECT HELCATT". Of course, here on UC, everyone seems to have a hard-on for either Nathan Fillion (for the handsome leading man types) or Ron Perlman (for the not-so-handsome leading man types)... but we'll save that discussion for another time.

One day, Brad Pitt will be cast as a superhero in a film and it will probably crush all box office records ever because finally, every idiot with a computer and a love of film will make that trip out of mom's basement or their shoddy efficiency apartment and buy a ticket to see it. I would go see it, too, because Brad Pitt's a great actor.

But I'm not one of those people who automatically casts Brad Pitt into every superhero role as soon as the film adaptation is announced.

Honestly, the only role I've ever considered Brad Pitt a fit was Steve Rogers, and I'm fairly certain we could find someone better than him.

But as Thor? God, no.

I completely agree. Everytime I see Josh Holloway scowl at someone with his hair just streaming down into his face in lost I go "OH MY GOD THOR!" he just needs to bulk up a little bit.

The only thing I would want to see from Ultimate Thor is just the costume. That I like better.

I hope they have a 616 Thor for his movie, and have him turn into Ultimate Thor for the Avengers. The way I see it Thor is different from other heroes, I see him going after more humanitarian causes which can lead us into the liberal Thor we see in the UU. A combination of the two.

I would like to see the movie start off based on the Fraction one shots that lead to Thor being banished on earth by Odin, we see Thor progress through identity to identity until we meet Don Blake. The movie finishes with Don Blake becoming Thor and fending off an alien invasion (like 616 origin).

This would give us a nice epic fantasy tale of Asgard, introducing the Asgardians plus set up Thor (and possibly Loki) for the Avengers movie. Plus we would get Odin in the destroyer armor.

I'd rather have Odin have Thor inhabit Donald Blake from birth (like say the baby didn't survive so he uses that body for Thor) and he grows up as a human. Loki makes a power play and Donald becomes Thor. I feel that better for teaching Thor humanity and having a secret identity while not getting confusing. I always found Blake being a separate person kinda odd
