How would you rate Thor?

They could have been there as well. They just don't talk about it on Twitter.

This is why Bendis was there (from NYCC):

- Part of Bendis' new contract involves him and Quesada consulting on the Marvel Studios films. The pair recently met with "Thor" director Kenneth Brannagh.

And Bendis was the guy who wrote the Fury scene in Iron Man. I don't mind him there as a creative consult just as long as he has no say on the final word

We won't have bendis dialogue in the Thor movie, will we, will the Thor be 5 hours long and 3 of those hours are just "hip" and "real" conversations between characters?

There's new casting rumors about the two lead roles: for the God of Mischief, IESB claims that Josh Hartnett has met with director Kenneth Branagh and wants to give the role a shot because he's never played a villain (Slevin Kelevra doesn't count).

Not enough? Okay, how about this for a Thunder God (if Latino Review is to be believed): standing six foot four, having a meal with Branagh in Los Feliz, it's actor Alexander Skarsgard! Branagh and two unidentified men ate with Skarsgard at Blair's Restaurant, but maybe it was just a friendly meeting between a Shakespearean actor and a statuesque Nordic man. Maybe.

Skarsgard looks like he could be right for the part if he bulked up a little bit. And ditched the Chris Elliott hair.

Dude, Josh Hartnett as Loki....

This needs to happen, no this NEEDS to happen.

Though I'm not entirely sure he's got the vocal range required for playing Loki. (I always read Loki like Lucius Malfoy meets the Mad Hatter)

This sucks. Stellan Skarsgård's son? Kevin McKidd would have owned the role. He's only about two years older than Alexander Skarsgård.

Josh Hartnett? Ew. I've seen Lucky Number Slevin. That doesn't convince me that he should play Loki.

you know we all expressed displeasure about Ledger when he was first casted in the dark knight. I'd say give hartnett a chance.

Exactly. I'm not hyped by the news, but I can see the merit in both choices (assuming they're true), especially Skarsgard as Thor. He's at least got the look, and a slight Swedish/Nordic accent would be perfect for the Thor character.

Of all the Marvel movies coming out, I'm most curious about this one (not necessarily the most excited or hyped to see it, just curious) and the approach they'll take with the character and material.

Deadline Hollywood has some more casting rumors for Kenneth Branagh's "Thor." Josh Hartnett, who has previously been announced as a contender for Loki, may also be in the running for Thor; but there are others (mostly unknown) vying to wield Mjolnir. Natalie Portman is a likely choice for the female lead.

The Fury scene sucked, even if it was a "post-credits" scene. I don't know why they hired Bendis to write pages and pages of dialogue for that one little scene when he really has nothing to do with Iron Man or Nick Fury. Mark Millar knows how to write Jackson-Fury dialogue.

Heath Ledger had impressive performances before TDK. Josh Hartnett, I've never really been too impressed by....

Natalie Portman? No, God no....

What's wrong with you, boy?

I kind of dig Hartnett as Loki. But I'd kind of like to see an unconventional Thor. I think the Millar format for Thor could be much improved upon and molded into something that straddles urban fantasy. I know I say this a lot, but I'd like to see Terry Gilliam work on it. I think it works.

But I could definitely see Branagh doing it differently and doing it well.

I agree, I am really not a fan of Portman and can think of some much better choices for a leading woman. I do like the idea of Hartnett as Loki though, maybe Thor. Dunno.

I agree, she is gorgeous but doesn't always have good on screen chemistry and can ruin some scenes, if her role is pretty down played I'd be okay with it

I dig both Hartnett and Portman.

Actually screw that. Cast Michelle Monaghan as the sexy creepy female Loki.

I have to wonder how well this movie is going to do financially. We're talking about a lesser known Marvel character here. Sure, people said that about Iron Man and it turned out to be a giant success, but I would say that the character lends itself better to the mainstrem than Thor would. Any thoughts? It could work, but for the sake of debate I think it will be a tougher sale. Of all the movies that Marvel has coming out in the next few years, this seems like it is the one that may do the worst. It will be interesting to see however.
