Re: The strike is on. The S is O!!

So, I learned of an interesting twist to this whole thing. A friend of mine who's in tv production told me that the producers alliance, aware for awhile that the strike could happen, examined the scenario and realized a strike that only lasted a short time would actually save them some money. So they knowingly went into negotiations offering a bad deal, and if the writers took it, great, and if they didn't, that'd be fine, too! Un-fu**ing-believable. At least this lends even more credence to the whispers that it'll be over before too long.

P.S. Edie Falco has the solution:

WGA STRIKE WATCH: DAY TWENTY-FIVE

On the good side, everybody's still friendly, but on the bad side, day two of renewed talks have turned into a game of chicken according to strikewatcher Nikki Finke. The AMPTP apparently covered old ground because, "they also feel that the writers weren't paying attention and didn't absorb the proposal back then. So, basically, they presented back what they proposed on November 4th." This means stretching things into a fourth day of talks.

However, with thousands of CBS News employees looking at a December 10 walk out and Canadian writers striking in solidarity (possibly disproving lingering rumors that there is no such place as Canadia), time may start to breathe down the necks of the studios and networks.

One group that's in a hurry to end the strike are advertisers, and a blog post from Time Magazine re-examines the pressures they can bring to bear on the two sides of the labor struggle. After all, it's forcing the Democratic presidential candidates to cancel their debate after the Republicans took it to YouTube.

Meanwhile, the often pro-AMPTP Variety reported that some showrunners have returned to work doing non-writing related work since the negotiations have resumed, including "Lost's" Carlton Cuse. They might not get the level of disgust that the WGA has for late night host Carson Daly for crossing the picket line.

CBR News has an extensive summary of the entirety of the strike and a lot about its ramifications.

Maybe it's good news, at the end of the day, that the Broadway stagehands' strike came to a conclusion with all sides smiling.

Re: The strike is on. The S is O!!

I found it funny because of what they were making fun of, the show and the style that a lot of shows tend to be like that.

Re: The strike is on. The S is O!!

Strike + Judd Apatow + Harry Osborn + Meg Griffin + MTV dreck = hilarity.

I've never seen "The Hillz" and thus didn't find it funny.

It's totally worth it to have never seen "The Hillz", though.

James Franco is still awesome.
You've never seen the clips of it on The Soup?

I think the burping one was just a few weeks ago.

I thought the funniest part of the clip was the hilarious expressions.

Re: The strike is on. The S is O!!

Yet the people striking won't care about people like that. So what if people get fired for it and can't support their family , the strikes can make a little bit more money
I'm sorry, but that's really ****ed up there. It's highly inconsiderate you say that the strikers don't care. I'm sure they do, but this is out of their reach. They have a right to worry about themselves and their families to support them just as any other person. You don't have the right to say they don't care about others without even knowing them or situations they could be in with their families like non-writers.

And for the love of God, this ****ing sad excuse "they're doing this so they can make money" excuse as a negative thing is just ****ing old and sad. Yes, they're trying to get royalties (for what they rightly deserve, don't forget), but you know why? 'Cuz they have to get ****ing paid just as well so they can keep living. So they can pay their mortage, their rent, their groceries, their clothing, their bills, etc.

I can totally understand you thinking striking is a bad thing. That's fine. Not everyone likes the methods people use to get things done. That's life. Everyone can never be pleased at the same time by any thing. And I also understand that striking has negative effects on others. But what doesn't? That's life! So at least try to come up with better ways to ***** and whine about the strikers.
