WGA STRIKE WATCH: DAY TWENTY-TWO

Today, the AMPTP and the WGA go back to the negotiating table, and many people feel it couldn't come sooner -- the Los Angeles Times notes that the strike costs the City of Angels more than $20 million a day as long as the struggle continues.

Last week the WGA shut down Hollywood Boulevard when other labor unions (SEIU, Teamsters, nurses and more) joined them in a Solidarity Rally, and numerous sites took a look at the goings on.

But what to do with those long hours not on the picket line? The LA Times also has an article about the possibility of scabbing and sneaking work under the radar.

A piece in Variety notes the shock of studios seeing show runners standing against them, but some are wondering if maybe the disparate online campaigning of writers helped drive the studios back to the negotiating table, as the writers were controlling the story.

Finally, if you're not busy between noon and 1:30 PM PST today, you can check out a live broadcast from WGA representatives "covering all aspects of the WGA strike" with "interviews, live reports from the various picket lines and video clips."

WGA STRIKE WATCH: DAY TWENTY-THREE

The Hollywood Reporter notes that details are scarce on the first day back at the tables, while picketing resumed.

However, a rumor is floating around that a deal has already been struck and the strike could be over by Kwanzaa. This comes from reporter Nikki Finke, who even Bloomberg Business News acknowledges is kicking butt on strike coverage.

There's a piece in the Huffington Post talking about how the WGA is winning the marketing war by getting public support on their side.

Finally, Yahoo! News reports that Carson Daly is the first late night host to come back to work, essentially crossing the picket lines.

yeah, i'd also read this was a possibility. coupled with the news that NBC has ordered full seasons for Chuck and Life, which fueled speculation that a deal may quietly be in place.

Wait, people actually write Heroes?

I thought they copied and pasted that drivel from 70's comic books...

Great, now people are going to start hating Carson Daly!

Re: The strike is on. The S is O!!

I can't believe he still has the show. Who watches it?

I have seen it several times - never by intention. It's one of the worst things I've ever seen. It's like an 8th grade school project with actual c-list celebrities. The monologues are terrible and the comedy skits are painfully unfunny.

I don't know which would win a "Worst Show EVAR" award between Carson Daly and Reba. Yeah, it's that bad.
