The DVD purchase thread

I just bought Pineapple Express and the deluxe edition of Once Upon a Time in the West (for SIX BUCKS!!!!!). They had a Bruce Lee collection, which I'm totally getting when I have the money for it.

I got Quantum of Solace on Blu Ray today! w0000t!!

Didn't realize that was out. I'll have to pick that up.

I'm also going to get Venture Bros. Season 3, maybe Batman: TAS Season 1, and maybe Nosferatu and/or its remake.

Is Venture Bros. Season 2 on Blu Ray?

Not yet, I don't think.

So I went to Best Buy and I didn't have enough money for Season 3. And they didn't have Batman: The Animated Series or Nosferatu (original or Herzog remake); I'll have to order those online. I decided to just get Quantum of Solace and The Shining, which I've seen but wanted to buy/own for a while (because I like Kubrick).

Nosferatu! The old black and white silent film? That's a tough find especially for dvd which I didn't even think there was one available. Great movie though.

Slumdog Millionaire on Blu-Ray via the UC Store....

Benjamin Button on Blu-Ray

Chuck Season 1 on DVD, which just came today from Amazon!

and I traded my copy of Step Brothers for my roommate's copy of The Foot Fist Way -- see it now! -- right before I finished my freshman year of college.

Does the Deluxe Extended Edition of King Kong still include the "Skull Island mockumentary" that was included on the two-disc version?

I see no reason why it wouldn't be.

I have all the normal two-disc versions of each of the Lord of the Rings films and King Kong. I should try and get the extended editions now that they're a bit cheaper.

Damn. Cause I already bought the 2-disc one. Oh well, it's not like I need it....although it does have Peter Jackson commentary.

Is there a 2-disc version of Superman II - The Richard Donner Cut, or is there just the one-disc version?

My birthday list (DVDs):

Gojira - The special edition which includes the American 1950s version and the original Japanese version for the first time ever.

Nosferatu the Vampyre - The Werner Herzog version of the original silent B&W film (which I bought a few months ago). Stars Klaus Kinski.

Batman: The Animated Series Season One - This has the first 28 episodes, including the Emmy Award-winning "Heart of Ice." The only problem is, I also want the Emmy Award-winning 2-parter "Robin's Reckoning," which tells the origin of Robin, but is in the second volume. I don't know if I will be able to get all of this.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm - I could get this no matter how much I spend on everything else, because this is only like 4 bucks on Amazon.

Superman - The four-disc special edition.

Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut - The way the director intended the sequel to be.

I won't be able to get all of this so I have to narrow it down. This is the pricing:

Superman (Four-Disc Special Edition) - 27.99
Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut - 18.49
Batman: The Animated Series, Volume One - 37.99
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm - 5.99
Gojira / Godzilla Deluxe Collector's Edition - 14.99
Nosferatu: The Vampyre - 20.99

But I also want the Optimus Prime Revoltech action figure, which is 49.75 (I would've put the 20th Anniversary Edition Optimus Prime on the list, but it's like 140-200 bucks) It may not look like much (it doesn't even transform .... it's actually more of a statue/model than an action figure), but it's super-poseable and super-detailed. One customer writes:
an Amazonian said:
This "model" of Optimus Prime is astonishing. The quality of the fit and finish is amazing, and the attention to detail is unmatched. I am using this as a model to look at next to my computer.
It's six inches tall.

So ..... Everything together is 176.19. I want to narrow this list down.
