The Apple Products Thread

Well, for example I have the Game Trailer's game reviews podcast. If I have more than 1, and I begin with the one on the top of the list, it will play all of them until it finishes the last one.

It won't play just one and go back to the list for you to choose another, it'll keep going playing them all.

Hmm, that's odd, sounds like it's playing like an album.

I bit the bullet earlier, and ordered the 2.4GHz Macbook. $1499 after edu discount. I just got the email that it shipped ^_^

That's the 13"? I would have to go with the 15.4"...the MBP I have now is 15.4" and sometimes it seems too small.

Aaaaaand another reason why I love Apple.

From their site.

Apple is publicly opposing Proposition 8 and making a donation of $100,000 to the No on 8 campaign. Apple was among the first California companies to offer equal rights and benefits to our employees' same-sex partners, and we strongly believe that a person's fundamental rights — including the right to marry — should not be affected by their sexual orientation. Apple views this as a civil rights issue, rather than just a political issue, and is therefore speaking out publicly against Proposition 8.

I started up my MBP and found, to my excitement, there was a software update addressing some problems with wifi connectivity. Ever since upgrading to Leopard, I have been unable to remain connected on my home network when on battery power. Never had any problems when plugged into the wall, and I hadn't come across any other networks that I couldn't stay connected to. Mine was not an isolated problem - there was a thread on Apple's forums full of people with the same issue with all kinds of recommendations that didn't work.

But now, after installing the update, it appears to be fixed.

These are tears of joy.

Some of my podcasts aren't showing up and I have no idea why. They're podcasts I just finished downloading from iTunes and won't transfer to the iPod. Help, please.

NY Times columnist Thomas Friedman suggests that Steve Jobs be asked to run ailing auto company as a 'national service'.

Now everyone is talking about what an iCar would look like, in varying tones of reverential to wonky to earnestly self-serious.

The idea of the Apple CEO getting into automobiles is not new. It came up a year ago, with regards to Apple teaming up with Volkswagen and naturally some tech wonks had their own theories of what such a product union would look like.

ZDNet's Thomas Steinert-Threlkerd, has taken a closer look at Friedman's suggestion.

Smoothspan's Bob Warfield gives the idea some serious consideration,

I have an interesting similar problem. I have podcasts that are transferring to my iPod when I don't have them marked to do so. Weird.

Sorry, I've been of no help, I don't do podcasts other than class stuff, and haven't run across this problem.

I'll look around once I feel less nauseous from the anesthesia.

I no longer have an iPod Classic. Which is OK - I wasn't using it much because I'm spoiled by the iPhone interface - it's way better.

I did use some of the $$ to pick up the new in-ear headphones from Apple and I'm very impressed. I almost took them back because the sound was so bad but it turns out I wasn't wearing them properly. They sound really good.

This is awesome:

Apple Developing a Home Media Server?

9to5Mac reports that Apple has been working on a home media server to access your iTunes and other files anywhere you have internet access. The site compares it to HP's just updated Media Smart Server which offers a centralized location for backup, storage and file delivery to your computers locally as well as remotely:

Your music, photos, videos and other media are part of your life -- but they're scattered over multiple computers, disk drives, CDs, DVDs, and MP3 players.... Macs and iPods too. The HP MediaSmart Server centralizes all your files, from all your home computers, in one place so you can grab them anywhere you have an internet connection and share how you want.
Apple's take on the system would reportedly expand out Time Capsule's functionality from being a single drive backup system into a more robust multi-drive backup server. In addition, tie ins would be made to Apple's MobileMe services to deliver access to your files and media from anywhere on the internet.

9to5mac suggests that media could also be shared to your iPhone and iPod touch, providing full access to your media while mobile. The device could also serve media files to other computers at home as well as to your Apple TV.

30GB Zunes are failing en masse...

Can't...stop...laughing.

Even Microsoft never expected Zune to last beyond 2008 so they put a self destruct function in.

In related news, this guy had a stroke:

This is pretty epic. Of all of the postings and comments to stories I've seen, I haven't seen a single person say theirs is exempt and is working OK.
