It's true.
To be honest, I was put off from getting one because everyone I know hypes it so much to the point where I got tired of hearing it. I have nothing against macs. I told Skotti that I've been using them since I was 14 (9th grade). I had always preferred PC (one reason was to the overhypers). Then I started thinking why do I actually prefer PCs over Mac. Never had an actual good reason.
My brother got his own mac last week. It felt good using macs again so then I just decided to get one. Plus I'm tired of dealing with viruses. I had my left my laptop once w/o a password because everyone else had a computer to use. Then I find they were using my laptop while I was at work to look at f*ing p0rn. And I was also 'smart' enough to click on a Java update that wasn't actually Java.
So yeah. Mac. I hear you can put a desktop parallel or whatever it's called on it, so that looks good.

Parallels is the name of it I believe. I don't use it, but I do use VMWare Fusion which lets me boot Windows inside OSX. I can copy/paste between them and run them concurrently, and share files between them. Parallels, as I understand it, lets you actually run Windows programs as Mac programs.
I actually use VMWare to run Windows 7, XP, and Ubuntu. It's pretty cool.

I hear you. I was the same way. I still hate people that hype Apple products just because they are Apple products.
But yeah, it took me a long time before I'd even consider using a Mac. Actually the only reason I did was because I knew I would be losing my job and most likely would need Mac experience to even be considered for a lot of positions. So I bought a Mac Mini and forced myself to use it and learn it, and eventually came to prefer it over a PC. When it came time to replace my laptop I got a MacBook Pro and didn't even consider any PCs.

What I was planning to do was to get a macbook and get a PC at some point later because I am so in love with the HP Touchscreen. But that won't be for a long while.
And I've noticed that using Photoshop, Flash, etc. on Mac's look so much better than on PC's. I used a Flash demo once on a PC and everything was so scrunched together.
I do. I use both. I have XP installed on the Mac. Windows 7 too. For 99% of what I do though, I prefer the Mac.

Definite improvement over Vista. Remember, it's a beta, so some applications don't work, and not everything has drivers yet (like there's a known issue with the soundcards in the white macbooks).

Anyone else having trouble with iTunes? My brother is having trouble, too. It keeps telling that there's a connection problem when I tried to purchase a song, but podcasts downloaded just fine.

The 3.0 firmware sounds great. Definitely more than I was expecting.
I like the idea of magazine subscriptions and the like via an app, but am afraid it will lead to abuse. I've always hated the idea of having to pay for extra levels and things like that in games, and I hate the thought of how some greedy programmer is going to abuse it. Especially since there are so many developers whining about their $20 apps being lost in the mix of all of the $.99 apps - make it worth the price you're charging, or cut the price. Same mindset.
All of the other features sound great. Particularly opening up the API even more. I like that.
Copy/paste is nice but I've never been to excited about it. I've only had a handful of times where it would have been nice to have, never has it been essential.

Oh yeah - MMS. I totally forgot about that. I don 't use texting that much but it will be nice to have. A while ago my wife tried to text me a picture of the baby's poop and I couldn't receive it.
It's called tethering but they did not announce it. One source thought they would but they didn't. When it is announced, expect to have to pay a monthly fee to AT&T to use it.
