GO HAWKS!

Now if the Cubs could win a Series in my lifetime....
Do you know how many Cubs fans have died waiting for that?
I can't wait to see the Buckeyes add the Huskers to the junk pile along side the Wolverines.
We'll see. But the shape of the Big 10 is about to change drastically. Notre Dame is the big prize, but don't be surprised if they end up snatching up some bigger name schools than Rutgers by the time this thing is over.
Is it a big deal that Carroll's going to the NFL? I mean, he's been the coach of the best team money could buy in the NCAA.
It's a bigger deal for the school he just left than the team he's going to. This is the end of an era in southern California. For years they've owned that conference and used it as a springboard to national championship contention. That's over. Texas and Oklahoma joining at the same time as these devastating sanctions means they have a long rebuilding process ahead of them before they can legitimately compete again.

As far as the Seahawks go, he's walking into a good situation. That division is garbage and has been for years. So it won't take long to build a competitor. Seattle seems willing to give him the time and resources to build a winner there. And if his excellent first draft is any indication, yeah he may continue to be a big deal at the pro level.

Sorry won't happen. It's been way to long. If the Cubs were to win... it would be anarchy. You Cub fans can't take a win in a good way. And if you won the series... Surly one of you would push things too far. And then there be a city wide brawl. The city would be left in ruins and would have to shut down and abandoned.

Plus, eveyone knows that no matter how far the Cubs make it in the series, they'll screw it up. It could be the bottom of the 9th in the World Series, bases loaded, the opposing team up to bat. And your pitcher will probably break under pressure. Which would be ironic. Cause that wouldn't be the only thing that breakes in that game. He'd throw the ball break his rist in the proscess, which would make it perfect to hit. and... Crack (crawd roars) and the anouncer says: "THE ______ Win!, The______ Win!!.. What a disappointing loss for the Cubs..."

Being a Cubs' fan is like, worshiping a false idol... Nothing good comes from it. And it only fills it's followers with a sence of false hope...

I'm sad Tom Izzo is leaving MSU. :-(

I think it will be a bad move, too. Lebron leaves and Cleveland will have nothing. It will be Rick Pitino all over again, and will sully Izzo's name and record.

did you see Stephen Colbert making fun of soccer/football last night?

hilarious!
It was good.

"What makes you think it's a sport?"

His other guest was absolutely right about soccer. It will NEVER be big in the States (or in Canada for that matter). Too simple, too boring, and nobody will put up with a sport that ends in a tie that often.

It's funny because both games so far have ended in a tie.

The world cup is fun though.

England play the US in about nine hours.

Ending a game in a tie completely defeats the purpose of playing a game in the first place. It's retarded.

And that's not just a soccer complaint. The same goes for NFL football and hockey (although I think the NHL changed rules a while back to either eliminate ties or make them a lot harder to come by).

Soccer simple and boring? That's funny, the rest of the world feels that way about american football. Two teams dressed in mattresses running at eachother? Only in the US would that be considered interesting. It's right up there with Nascar racing.

Also, we can accept that two teams can perform equally well. And the final game can never end in a draw. They will keep playing untill someone scores. You might not understand if you have no stake with either team, but games that end in a draw are usually hairraisingly intense.

I will admit that baseball (the other sport only America and Canada are interested in) is fun to watch.

Nascar is retarded. That we can agree on, but American Football is the closest thing I have to a religion, sir.

American Football is a game where every play matters. Every yard gained or lost is important to both sides. Soccer is a bunch of guys chasing a ball in circles for 90 minutes. You can go to the store for a half hour and come back to the exact same game you left. Like I did today in England vs USA.

Ties are terrible. E's right, you play till a winner is decided or you might as well not play at all.

Baseball rocks. That's the one of the American games which has proven to have international appeal. East Asia, Central America, and South America have already embraced it and I think it has the potential to keep growing.

This.

Also, Japan has always been big on baseball as well. It is a popular sport around the world which is why they have started the World Classic series every 3 years.

Our goalie ****ed up. We were winning from like 3 minuets 30 seconds. But when usa shot instead of catching the ball like everyone said was the normal think he tied to push it and it hit his hand and went it. We drew 1-1 to usa because our goalie ****ed up. Oh well it happens but I hope he doesn't do that again.

I got a good chuckle out of that.

Soccer is for poor people.

Also, I watched the England/USA game because a friend asked me to, it was ok until the game ended in a tie. WTF!?

They did it on purpose to **** with the US viewers.

I watched the first half of the Argentina vs. Nigeria game. Argentina seem like a pretty great team this year.

yeah, now the NHL has an overtime period followed by a shoot-out if no one scored during the overtime (in normal season games, in the play offs they just keep playing overtime periods until someone scores).

I don't think that would work too well in soccer though. First of all it can take so long to score that overtime would be pointless. And deciding the fate of a game/match by having a shootout is rather controversial. Not everyone likes it.

It's exciting to watch though!

That is what they do in soccer. They just won't start doing it until the more important games.

If a game isn't important, what's the point of playing it?

I don't understand changing a fundamental rule like that for only certain games.
