The All About Sports Thread: Even Sportier.

I have a question about the world cup. My brother is bit of a soccer fan, In fact Philly is getting an official soccer and his dedicated to becoming the first big fan.

Anyway I get most of my World Cup updates from him. And I heard that America has been getting a bunch of bad calls on the ref's end that keep us from winning. And I'm wondering how common calls like that in these games. Where you look back the team did nothing wrong, in fact I heard one call the opposite team was hold american players back and had one in a head lock and ref threw out a US goal that was made, but the ref just make a bad call. Is it common, did US just get ****ty refs, or is it something more... nefarious....?

It happens. Alot of people are calling for Fifa to use video replays during the game to help referees make the right decisions. Fifa still believes that having a ref out there makes the game more interesting and him not seeing everything is part of the game, so they dont use playbacks. There are rumours however that Fifa likes having some control over who advances and who doesnt. (the hosting country rarely gets eliminated in the first rounds. Coincidence? Perhaps.) In case of really bad fouls or bad calls from the refs they do however call back some decisions. But only after the end of the game. In the Dutch national championship the referee can use a playback to make the right call. Personally I like that better.

On another note; the Netherlands have won every game they played so far, but damnit our team really isnt playing at the level we expect them too! But at least we have Robben back! yaay!

They really need a video ref system. So many of the calls have been absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah I really think most sports need that, if only to keep the refs in check. I've seen plenty of games through different sports have horrible refs and without some type of challenge they just go on with an injustice. And I certainly don't like to have a bad call negate a goal.

Also, I love how Vicente Padilla got mad when he was hit by a pitch, staring down at C.C. Sabathia, when not only he hit someone earlier, but is known to hit players often. He's had about 60 batters hit in the last couple years or so.

It's so ironically funny.

Curious about something:

How can a player get thrown out of a game... that's already over? What are they being thrown out of exactly? I can understand getting fined if they did something, but why throw them out? That happened twice to the Dodgers within 3 days.

Get ****ing video technology, you stone age mother****ers.

Holland won agains Slovakia. This was the last of the 'easy' games for the dutch. Now we face Brazil.
Tomorrow Spain vs Portugal. That'll be fun!
