The All About Sports Thread: Even Sportier.

It actually is real. And the guy claims he "didn't know" when he put it on. How could you not know?!

At the risk of sounding racist, and without knowing who that is or where he's from, I think it's a totally fair assumption that maybe he wouldn't know the language well enough to know it was wrong, or at least that it didn't look right.

What I was talking about is all the people it went through, from the time it was made to the person who put it out laundered and ironed for him to wear.

ETA: I just read the article and the guy speaks Spanish, so I can see why HE wouldn't have caught it.

Same company - Majestic.

I'd be worrying about losing that contract if I were them.

Umpire Joe West: Red Sox and Yankees a 'disgrace to baseball'

Why? Because they take too long. Though I can sympathize with his complaint, but seriously: "disgrace to baseball"? Come on. They're not the only teams who do it and even though umpires have the right to get upset about teams taking too long, too many trips to the mount, etc., there's no reason to go as far as anyone being a "disgrace."

They're not the only ones, but ESPN showed a list of the longest games from last year and they all involved the Red Sox or the Yankees. They really do like to take their time.

That said, "Disgrace to baseball" is a bit ridiculous.

It should say Red Sox FANS are a disgrace to baseball.

Texas Rangers owner files for Bankruptcy.

It mentions the Rangers still owe A-Rod $25 million. With a contract A-Rod has from the Yankees, if I was him, I'd tell them to forget the debt at this point. Might not exactly help much, but if I had a $250+ million deal, $25 mil. from another team wouldn't worry me if I didn't get it. But that's just me.

The more interesting story here is that it opened the way for Nolan Ryan to buy the Rangers. Nolan Ryan is, bar none, my all-time favorite player and the most dominating pitcher in the history of the game.

Greed on the part of both Rodriguez and his agent would never let that happen.

If an agent lets his player take less money, his cut is lower.

He's been trying to save the franchise for a while and at least the team will be going to a good guy.

Yeah, I know. Especially when his agent is freaking Boras. Ugh.

Cleveland Indian's David Huff was just hit by a line drive to the left side of his head. He was taken out on a stretcher, but he seems to be fine as he gave everyone a thumb's up while they took him away.

I would too if I got the rest of my work day off.

First of all, GO HAWKS!!! I've now seen my favorite team win the championship in 3 of the 4 major sports.

Of course the World Cup starts in two days and the NBA Finals continue tonight in Boston. But the biggest news has to be the changing of the college football landscape. Nebraska is set to accept the invitation into the Big 10. Missouri is sure to follow them there. Colorado is expected to announce today at noon that they are moving to the Pac 10. The word is that this will mean the dissolution of the Big 12 with Texas, Oklahoma, and a most of the Big 12 South moving to the Pac 10. This is going to set up a feeding frenzy as the other major conferences are going to feast on the corpse of the Big 12 and create a handful of new super-conferences. Also, USC has been sanctioned HARD. They will not be bowl eligible for the next 2 years and they will lose 20 scholarships. This move is 2-3 years too late and certainly explains Pete Carroll's move to the NFL. And they may be forced to vacate one of their national titles.

GO HAWKS!

Now if the Cubs could win a Series in my lifetime....

I can't wait to see the Buckeyes add the Huskers to the junk pile along side the Wolverines.

Is it a big deal that Carroll's going to the NFL? I mean, he's been the coach of the best team money could buy in the NCAA.
