The All About Comics Thread 4: Gemini Loves Crappy Variant Covers

Re: The All About Comics Thread 4: Mole Is Reading Watchmen?!

Magazines are all one month here, too.

Yeah our comics are too though like Astonishing Spider-man. But it's all good now. It's one of those "I was actually intrested in finding out the answer" which is cool I like learning stuff like that.

Geoff Johns/Alex Ross and their rejected Shazam pitch

I think I've posted this before but it makes me sad. You had two big creators ready to redefine a comic character, both creators know how to do the character (Johns with JSA, Ross with Kingdom Come/Justice) and they passed on this... and got Judd Winick! WTF? This must be one of DC's biggest mistakes.

Thank you. I would hug you but I'm scared og getting pepper sprayed again.
Yous welcome.

And if you put your body that close to me, I'm sure that soon enough you'd be the one using the pepper spray.

Thurs. August 21st on Lifetime.
I did not authorize that.

And I love that the title on that file is 'Full-Grown-Lesbian-Posters.jpg'.

It would've been neat to see Ross penciling a monthly book.

Did I ever mention my Captain Marvel idea for my ultimate-style Justice League thing from a few years ago? Billy Batson was going to be an adult, a sort of stoner dude in a lightning bolt t-shirt. The story would go that when he was a kid, he 'turned into' a super-powered adult, but it turns out that Billy receives superpowers later as a teenager and that his super adult form is just adult stoner Billy time traveling into the past. Or something. I'm not sure what the point was, rather than just to totally blow people's minds!

Let's face it.

Grant Morrison is just a comic book character that Moonmaster created.

Yeah. One of my more derivative characters, really. Just a play off the 'Alan Moore' character. What can I say, I can't help plagiarizing myself.

Re: The All About Comics Thread 4: Mole Is Reading Watchmen?!

I did not authorize that.
Lifetime doesn't need authorization to tell melodramatic tales of women finding the strength to do ______. They bought the rights to the concept years ago.
And I love that the title on that file is 'Full-Grown-Lesbian-Posters.jpg'.
I don't change the titles of almost anything I find on the interwebs.

Re: The All About Comics Thread 4: Mole Is Reading Watchmen?!

Today I got Nextwave vol 1 and 2, and the first trade of the new Thor series by JMS and Coipel. I'm excited.

Also, does anyone know when the paperback trades of Iron Fist vol. 2 and Whedon's arc on Runaways come out? All I have seen are the hardbacks.

Iron Fist Vol. 2 is already out in TPB, I believe. If not it's within the next few weeks.

Re: The All About Comics Thread 4: Mole Is Reading Watchmen?!

I've got so much stuff to read and catch up on, but I'm trying to organize my "to read" list. I'm catching up on the Gaiman Miracleman issues and after that I'm going to finish Alan Moore's Swamp Thing then try to move into Runaways. I read the first hardcover collection but then totally forgot about it.

Re: The All About Comics Thread 4: Mole Is Reading Watchmen?!

I picked up the first book of Invincible (the 13 issue hardcover) on a whim
AMAZING!
So I caught up on the rest of that and jumped to the walking dead and now they are both on my pull list. I am pumped about it.

Re: The All About Comics Thread 4: Mole Is Reading Watchmen?!

I've been reading Starman.

This book is to good.

I had the same reaction to Invincible. I bought the first trade for kicks and giggles and every time I went to my LCS of the next month and a half I bought the next volume in line like a damn junkie.

I've got the first two volumes of Walking Dead, but honestly it hasn't hooked me yet.

Re: The All About Comics Thread 4: Mole Is Reading Watchmen?!

I really really liked Walking Dead. However, I have yet to pick up volume 2, as for some reason the graphic novel section of the bookstore from which I purchased volume 1 does not have it in stock, yet it has an abundance of Volume 1, 3 & 4.

Re: The All About Comics Thread 4: Mole Is Reading Watchmen?!

Marvels Sequel coming in December.

I would normally be against the idea of doing a sequel to Marvels but the idea makes sense and Busiek is still writing it. Too bad Ross can't do the art again, but then it would probably take another six years to finish.
