Re: The All About Comics Thread 4: Mole Is Reading Watchmen?!
I'd say one of the early covers of Planetary.
I'd say one of the early covers of Planetary.
But I'm still trying to figure out if I should have him autograph an issue of Astonishing, an issue of Planetary, or an issue of Lone Ranger. Again, suggestions? My top choice at the moment is the awesome de-powered Cyclops cover from Astonishing.
Bass wouldn't have spoken to you unless you drew the X-Men at some point. No sir, but that would've been cool too. We have Bass Ale on draft at the bar so I would've made a long-running joke about "Hey Bass, would you like a Bass?" and we all would've had a good laugh over that.
Was he as dreamy in person as he is in pictures???No, Mr. Cassaday was rolling solo. His cousin works at the bar next door and since he's from this area, he's got other family in these parts. He even invited me to his Christmas party later on this year at a popular local BBQ joint, which I wholeheartedly accepted.
Mr. Cassaday is a seriously nice guy. I've met other writers and artists in the past and MOST of them have been cool, but not John Cassaday cool. We talked for a good hour about old Larry Hama GI Joe comics, the greatness of Warren Ellis (he said he's almost done with the last issue of Planetary, by the way) and how the mid-90's almost killed the industry.
He's a class act, John Cassaday.

Willverine tried to warn us that John Cassaday is really a Skrull but it was too late.
Exactly. How would Moonmaster know what he had said? That sounds like Skrull talk to me.
That sounds like Skrull talk to me.
 I'm not a Skrull, I'm a Kree.Exactly. How would Moonmaster know what he had said?
....unless Moonmaster got to Willverine!!!
LIES!The Skrulls were after me, but I borrowed that logic-defying gun from Nick Fury so they're not around anymore... for now.
I totally spaced and forgot to take anything for an autograph, I had Marvel Knights Captain America #3 sitting on my desk before I left the other night but completely forgot to grab it on the way out the door. Yeah, I know it's not Planetary #1 or anything but it was the first issue where Steve Rogers revealed his identity to the public... and Cap is my favorite character... but it's cool.
Just sayin'.
Exactly what a lyin' Skrull would say! I'm not a Skrull, I'm a Kree.
 I'm not a Skrull, I'm a Kree.
LIES!
I know the truth:
 I'm not a Skrull, I'm a Kree.
You're still an alien!
*builds fence on the border*
wouldn't that be a ceiling?
You can't build a ceiling without a base to work from.
