That Thread About Work: "Custom kitchen deliveries...!"

Had a great couple of days teaching. Yesterday used a classic detention tactic on a group of kids.

They were herded into a room, sat down and made to copy from a book. After writing for about 30 minutes, I told them to hand me their papers, which a shredded in front of them, threw away and said
"Now what lesson have you learned?"
They replied with mumbles. So I said..
"Waste my time, and I waste yours, get out."

Today I had a class that is normally very disruptive, and low ability (age 12ish). The room I was in is terrible, turns into an oven even if it is snowing outside. And it is very hot here atm. 10 minutes before the lesson, I threw the lesson plan out of the window, grabbed a ball from the PE dept, and took the kids outside to play 'Spreadsheet Dodgeball'. Basically normal dodgeball, but when they would normally be knocked out of the game, they would be given a question, if they got it correct, they stayed in the game. Worked really well, and the kids told me it was their best IT lesson ever.

There was an order this morning entitled "Balancing the budget of the state of California."

The first thing I thought was, "I'm NOT doing your homework for you, Mr. Schwarzenegger!"

I took on a project which involves remodeling the lab floor space, in an effort to gain more space.

It's called lean manufacturing, I've talked about it before.

This one little ***** of a boss refuses to move anything, and now she is even refusing to get me a protocol of her lab in an effort to do this without her.

She's even yelling at her boss, and her boss' boss.

I hope she gets fired.

Why is it a big deal?

I read an article recently that made the madness that I experienced in the IT field make a LOT more sense.

According to surveys, nearly 60% of the IT is an Assburger Kid (Asperger's).

Explains.... sooo much.

She feels the same hatred.

But she needs to 'treat' them as well.

Ugh...

yeah there's a clan of self-diagnosed at school, they go around being utter douche bags, calling people by racial/sexist slurs. Anyone complains to the dean and she's like "Oh well, they have Asperger's, so you should really feel pity for them".

The place I worked at right out of high school did something similar called Kanban. Unfortunately all it did was get rid of about 10 years worth of dust and clutter; the management was too stupid to take advantage of the lean manufacturing part.

I really know I shouldn't, but I catch myself calling them that -.-

I think it's a subtle hatred for the self-diagnosed social misanthropes.

I feel your pain. I dated a girl for three years that had it, and it wasn't self-diagonosed. You have no idea how many problems we had considering I'm loud and a very social person.

See I have complete sympathy for you as well as her. True aspies must be in a living hell (I'm such a friggen social butterfly, so I can't even imagine it).
