It may be just because my standards for this show have rock bottomed, but Thursdays episode didn't suck!
Also, something interesting seems to be coming up. In a trailer Lionel is supposed to comment on "something terrible" that is coming. There is an episode just after that called 'Apocalypse', and rumours are bouncing about that Chloe might die. This has put two ideas in my head..
a) Apocalypse = Apokalips
b) Another word for Apocalypse is Doomsday.. What if, following the whole cloning thing running through this season, Doomsday is a failed Clark clone, or something similar. Doomsday kills Clark, and Chloe uses her powers to heal Clark, but dies in the process.

People still watch this garbage and I'm pounded on for watching Flash Gordon.
I'm not watching Smallville again until Clark becomes Superman. (ergo=I'll NEVER watch Smallville again).

After getting seasons 1-5 on DVD, I kinda feel like I need to keep watching...
Season 7 has been utter trash so far, but the last episode was pretty good. I really hope Doomsday does turn up..

Funnily enough, I have been considering getting seasons 3-5 on DVD. I have all the other live-action Superman shows on DVD except the Kirk Alyn Serials and seasons 3-4 of Superboy (which were never released and may never be). I only have Smallville Seasons 1 and 2 and they look kind of stupid just sitting there by themselves. Besides, Seasons 3 and 4 weren't too terrible up until the point where Jon Kent died. The series went completely down the stink-hole at that point.

I actually preferred Seasons 5+6 to 1 and 2. The finale to Season 3 was really good as well (Clark taken away by Jor El, Chloe seemingly blowed up, Lex poisoned, Lionel in jail.).

The problem with every season after Season Two is that I just didn't give a crap about any of the characters. The show was supposed to be about how Clark became Superman.
After Season Two however, it became about the trials and tribulations of four...no five...no four...no wait, Chloe's dead...three...damn it, four... teenagers and a creepy old man as they stand around and things explode around them because General Zod is a ghost who controls Martian Manhunter who gave the Flash his powers and Jor-El is a dictator...or something.
That's how much sense this show makes.

After season 2 the whole concept of the show seemed to change. It became more Ultimate Superman (at times written by Card..) and less 'Superman as a kid'.

Actually, I found that it became less of 'the kid that becomes Superman' and more 'Superman as a kid'.
At this stage, Clark is basically Superman except that he's not bothered putting on a costume or becoming a reporter.

Sometimes the show surprises me and some good episodes/characters emerge, like Bizarro, or last weeks episode, but anything involving Lana is painful to watch (Watcher is a bastard for saving her and will suffer). Fortunately she is not gonna be part of the main cast next season.
