I love these characters more than you can possibly imagine, and I swear I wouldn't abandon them unless I knew for a fact that they were going to end up with the very best creative team possible. Marvel will be announcing that new team in about a week, and to say that you guys will be thrilled is probably an understatement.

Also: Warren Ellis despises the traditional superhero comic, so whenever he does one, he tries to approach it from a whole new angle... His take on the runaways might focus on Victron and Karolina/Xavin.

* There's news on Marvel stuff
coming. Three or four different
announcements, I think.

*cough*

Might be nothin'... Might be a Warren Ellis penned Thor title... Might be Ellis taking up Iron Man as an ongoing... But then again...

Ellis on Runaways would kick *** (in my oppinion)

:scared:

Don't panic...don't panic...

OK...I'll wait until I see who's writing it and how they do...

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

But that's been announced, and he says there are several things.

I am hella suspicious

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

Never heard of the artist. Like Joss. I'll keep buying the digests.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

I'm happy with this. I think we're going to be dealing with a Bendis/Maleev - Brubaker/Lark transition.

I didn't know what all the fuss was about with Whedon when I had encountered Buffy but after reading some Astonishing and seeing Serenity, I'm all for him picking up where Vaughan leaves off. And the fact that Vaughan chose him makes it even better. Ryan's take on the art should be really great too.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

I'll miss Vaughan and Alphona. I hope they can return sometime in the future.
Then again...Whedon just feels right. The fact that Vaughan loves him (and his first arc) gives me good feelings, and the best part is that Whedon was a fan of Runaways before Vaughan even considered leaving the book- so we don't just have a replacement, we have a replacement that knows them as well as anyone but Vaughan (and maybe even Vaughan himself)

I am excited. I just don't hope any more of the Runners die before #25.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

No one will beat BKV and Alphona. No one.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

Chase is scaring me. Since he's in YA/R, I'm pretty interested on knowing if his relationship with the Gibborum (if he's seriously going to Sacrefice that girl) will hold up secretly for a few arcs.

Molly totally rocked that monster. I wish she did it on her own though.

I didn't like the reference to Mole-Man. I wish we could've seen it.

Nico sucks as a leader. Great character but I would've written her to soldier status a long time ago. Especially with Xavin there. Not that I'd listen to Xavin in the first place but when it comes to straight up battles, he should be field commander.

Victor and Nico totally hopped on the good foot and did the bad thing...

5/5

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

What a fantastic issue.
Molly beating the monster was fantastic, and It was nice to see Nico do something again- how long has it been since we've really seen her in a fight?

CAFFINE INJECTION was brilliant, but
"heh, it's like my heart is having a pizza party!" may be one of Molly's best lines ever.

There was definitely some hanky panky between Nico and Victor. I like that, and I really hope BKV does something good with it before he leaves. And I'm glad there isn't really a Nico/Victor romance going on, because there wasn't much forshadowing towards one happening.
Two teens live underground for months, their friend dies, they have sex to try and escape the grief- doesn't mean they have to have a romance. Too many people think it does.

I can't wait to see what happens between Chase and the Gibborim. I'm betting on the Gibborim refusing his offer and telling him about the other Runaways, or possibly telling him that they want the six Runaway's souls. Chase goes to saves them, hangs as part of their group for YA/R, then becomes the main villian in 'Live Fast...' He is an adult, after all.

I love Brian K. Vaughan. He is my god.

Newsarama: Joss Whedon and Michael Ryan take over Runaways with # 25.

Michael Ryan has had a decent little stinit with Marvel, hes worked onMarvel books like Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Spectacular Spider-Man, and, of course, fan-favorite Mystique. New X-Men: Academy X with Nunzio DeFilippis and Christina Weir.

Just got the new issue.

Chase scared me when it seemed he was going to kill Lotus. Wonder how his newfound realationship with th Gibborim will work out.

The method of beating the monster proved to me that Nico's staff is a Dues Ex Machina. I probably should have realized sooner.

Seems Nico and Victor are willing to be open about their realationship...Chase took it surprisingly well.

4/5 I've seen better.

Note: Just read some back issues and noticed that in the last page of "Parental Guidance," Old Lace's eyes have turned from red to black. I assumed it to be a side effect of getting "a new owner," but they're back to their regular color next issue and past that. I hope it's an artistic error, because I thought the eye change was cool. Sorry if this is old.

And you forgot he started out in the relaunch of New Excalibur, too. He's really good. Like him a lot.

#21

Victore, Nico, Xavin, Karolina, Molly face off against the giant monster. They find the detective guy in rubble who after trying to shoot The Pride's kids, explains what happened and who the monster is (antique dealer).

The Giborrum tells Chase he has to sacrifice an innocent soul. He turns to Lotus. He also reveals that the Giborrum seem to be powerless because if they wanted him dead they would've done it by now.

Xavin and Nico combine efforts to make Xavin appear and sound like the antique dealers ex-wife. It calms the monster down and he turns into the old man again. Xavin shows Nico some respect.

Chase says that Lotus isn't innocent and abandons the Giborrum. They tell him the offer always stands. Outside the realm and back into reality Chase tells Lotus to burn the Abstract.

Nico and Victor are in the Hostel. Nico goes on about the usual best way to remember someone is to live a good life. She also says she's finally happy to be with a good guy. And kisses Victor. Chase walks in and when they ask where he was he tells them he just wanted to clear his head. He tells them that the welcome back can wait until breakfast cause he's tired.

Chase and Old Lace walk the Hostel halls where they come to a portrait of the Yorkes. He thinks about the Giborrum's offer.

4/5

I can always count on BKV.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoilers)

I really like this issue, but I'm afraid of where BKV is taking this. BKV has only three more issues to wrap up a helluva lot.

Norton's art improved with each issue he was on, this one being the best yet. I really, really liked it.

Can't wait for Live Fast, but I'm very afraid that my theory on Chase leaving after #24 is going to come true. I hope he doesn't kill another one of our living runners..:(
