Ourchair's Awesome Anime Thread

I liked it better after I saw the ending and it's revealed that
everything is part of a giant studio.
This pisses me off because the story isnt done yet, there's suppose to be a third season but didnt get the finance. And season 2 left on such a WTF? moment. I WANT TO KNOW HOW IT ENDS! What's the deal with the studio, the tomatoes, wtf is going on?
I have just one question...in this primarily Asian-influenced medium, why are characters always represented with Anglicized eyes?

I refer you to this essay.
Without reading this I would say because big eyes are much better for animations. You can get a lot more expressions from it.

My question is why are a lot of main characters blonde with red/orange clothing?

Seriously, I loathe any simplified explanation that basically boils down to saying anime characters look 'white'.

Is the fourth one out yet?

No the 3rd was the last one to come out.

What's that about?

Every city has a protector known as the Karas serves to protect thier city and keep the world of demons and the world of humans from overlapping. A Karas that has been active for hundreds of years as become stricken with humanity and sets to destory it. He has destroyed every Karas after him. But a new one has been chosen.

I KNOW! Big O was so much awesome. The 2nd season made the show. Best music in an anime also.

Or why the bad guy always has white hair? Either they are bad or will be bad.

NEVER trust Cartoon Network or most of the American companies and the anime they choose to localize for English-speaking audiences.

There's a large amount of anime out there that doesn't rely on the above mentioned stock cliches, it just happens that those are the anime that they choose to distribute.

I know EVERY anime fan loves to talk about anime like 'it's not just big eyes' and 'my attack name is cooler than your attack name' and it's true that to a certain extent those cliches reflect a lot of product being put out but such negative stereotypes only exist because that's what distributors and translators think their audiences want or expect...

And to a minor extent it is also because a lot of anime enthusiasts have also come to not want anything else other than those 'big eyes' and 'your attack name is cooler than my attack name'. To the point that the ONLY 'intelligent' anime that becomes totemized is Miyazaki, as if he were the end all and be all of ALL artistically meaningful anime.

Go watch Mushishi, Planetes, Gunslinger Girl, Haibane Renmei. Hell go watch Koi Kaze, an anime that actually treats the story of a young man's incestuous feelings towards his younger sister SYMPATHETIC but without condoning it.
