Ourchair's Awesome Anime Thread

Just because a Japanese take on western heroes is completely mutilated, mangled and/or simplified, doesn't necessarily mean the people who created them are unknowledgeable.

One could make the same claim on American takes on Norse mythology and Eastern legends.
Indeed you could. Which is why you'll never hear me say that Marvel's Thor is historically accurate.

But at least he's not a woman.

Oh. GOOD anime. Hmmmmm.

I got nothing.
Yep, besides FMA I couldn't really recommend most. Maybe Big O, but only because you will instantly turn that title into something that will not allow me to look at the title without saying "ewww"

I forget the exact title but it goes something like the melancholy of haruhi.
Seen it. Loved it. Mentioned it elsewhere in the forum too.

Probably one of the best anime series I've ever seen. SERIOUSLY.

I put it there next to Fullmetal Alchemist.

Try Black Lagoon, it's an action anime and I really liked it. Maybe, Kekkaishi, I rather like the manga but I haven't seen the anime.

Also, (I'm not recommending this by the way) I was reading about this anime based on a video game called School Days. I read the summaries for the last two episodes and man that is one ****ed up storyline.

Finally, something I know nothing about!

Never heard of Monster or Kekkaishi or Black Lagoon.

Will definitely look them up.

Are they any good? Details, details. :D

Monster has a thread in the manga section.

It's about a doctor who screws over his own job to save the life of a child, who later becomes a mass murderer. The doctor then realizes that he saved the kdi, now he needs to kill the kid.

It's a great look into the human pysche

Black Lagoon is about modern day pirate smugglers working out of a fictional Thailand city. The anime is somewhat similar to Cowboy Bebop, but the characters are more amoral. The characters often come into conflict with slightly over the top opponents (Neo Nazis, a Terminator-like maid armed to the teeth, murderous twin children that acted in snuff films, etc.). The animation itself is nice and slick.

Kekkaishi is about two modern day exorcists from rival families that spend their nights exterminating the demons that are attracted to the spiritual energy emanating from the land their school is built on.

Both animes are about 26 episodes long.

OOOOOOOhhhhh... I'm so interested now.

I love you.

Unless of course, this series turns out to actually suck, and if so you can bet your underage cousins will hear from me. :p

I bet you couldn't get to them all before Chris Hansen shows up.

I like a lot of anime, just not a lot of new anime.

Big O was ok.

I liked Meloncholy a lot too.

FMA has actually lost some of its luster for me since I started reading the manga, which is better than the anime.

Black Lagoon looks awesome.

Hellsing Ultimate is so good. The original series sucked. This is so hyper gore extreme. I love it.

And Karas is a fun two movie series. Just straight action. Great animation.

Big O was ok.

I liked it better after I saw the ending and it's revealed that
everything is part of a giant studio.

I liked Meloncholy a lot too.

I agree on both counts.

Black Lagoon looks awesome.

Trust me, it is.

Hellsing Ultimate is so good. The original series sucked. This is so hyper gore extreme. I love it.

Is the fourth one out yet?

And Karas is a fun two movie series. Just straight action. Great animation.

What's that about?
