Ourchair's Awesome Anime Thread

It seems I was mistaken; His grandaugher, Wren, is three years old. Only 15 years to go. This fills me with joy.

In an attempt to stay on topic, I believe that an Anime series about Bruce Lee would be "awesome" and "the boss".

This would be awesome. We might get to see the real Game of Death.

All of the released and re-released versions of Game of Death have been crap. I mean, those few fight scenes that were released were awesome...but felt incomplete.

If someone were to make an anime/OVA of Game of Death based on Lee's original scripts...I'd be so euphoric, I wouldn't know what to do with all of the joy.

That would be awesome. Many a happy die hard fan there would be.

From JonnyFreeze:

Surprise! An announcement at the very end of the final episode of Death Note, given by a group of the voice actors and a pair of cosplaying shinigami, announced that a special is going to air to wrap things up for the show.
The special is going to air sometime this summer during Golden Time (Japan's equivalent of prime-time, a.k.a. NOT at the usual Tuesday at 2am). What will happen during it? Presumably we'll find out what happened to all the characters after the final episode.

i thought death note related stuff could go in here
interview with the live action director Shusuke Kaneko:
http://www.twitchfilm.net/archives/010551.html

its a nice short read and includes interesting questions like this:

If a death note were written for Godzilla what would happen?

Shusuke Kaneko: Godzilla would die of a heart attack! (laughs) Godzilla doesn't really have a name so maybe it won't work.

Now that Warner Bros. has picked it up do you know when they plan to release it in the US?

Shusuke Kaneko: The release in the US hasn't been decided yet. They are still doubting whether it would work having a subtitled film released and would it be better to just remake both entire films.

NOOOOOOOOOOooooooo please please please dont remake!

oops. Gomenasai!

In Other News:

A camcorder recording of the trailer for the first of four new animated Rebuild of Evangelion movies has been YouTube'd. Evangelion Shin Gekijoban: Jo [EVANGELION:1.0 YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE] is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theatres September 1, 2007. It's the first chapter in a retelling of the influential 1995 giant robot series Neon Genesis Evangelion, released in North America by ADV Films. Comments from creator Anno Hideaki have indicated that theme of his work have been updated, and that the new version will be more accessible than the original.

About that Death Note special.....
Mantan reports that the episode will be a whopping three-hour reconstruction of the anime titled "Death Note Director's Cut Complete Ending," which will begin all the way back with the battle of wits between Light and L.

New recordings from the voice actors have been provided, as well as brand new scenes from the manga that didn't appear in the anime series. The episode is set to air on August 31 at 8:03pm (silly Japanese air times). Considering the final episode had a staggering 4.7% ratings share at 2am, there will probably be a few more people watching now at the more palatable time slot. • Bryan

The Devil May Cry anime is an arse kicker. really good looking show. although the storyline isnt really there but the individual contained stories are still good enough. Mad House is a great studio

I have Samurai Champloo, Fullmetal Alchemist and Cowboy Bebop on my DVD rental list. I did have Naruto, but I tried the first DVD and it was terrible. Might add Bleach and Paranoia Agent after I watch the first episodes online.

Straight from Wiki:
The story follows a team of mercenaries known as Lagoon Company, who smuggle goods in and around the seas of Southeast Asia. Their base of operations is located in the fictional city of Roanapur in Thailand, and they transport goods in the PT boat Black Lagoon. Lagoon Company does business with various clients, but has a particularly friendly relationship with the Russian crime syndicate Hotel Moscow. The team takes on a variety of missions - which may involve violent firefights, hand-to-hand combat, and nautical battles - in various Southeast Asian locations and when not doing much, the members of the Lagoon Company spend much of their down time at The Yellow Flag, a bar in Roanapur.
Black Lagoon has become my new favourite anime.........after FMA of course! FMA was just too good, the best mix of everything for me.
And my thoughts:
Black Lagoon, for some people maybe its not even a great show. Theres no deep meaning or rooted, twisting plot (unless something surprises me at the end of season 2). Some of the best action ive seen in an anime also and everything is so ****in stylish. I love all the characters although its a shame really that Benny doesnt do much but Dutch, Rock and especially Revy are just great. Revy, the chick in the photo is badass!
The music is nice too. so much so that i chased up the soundtrack as i wanted a couple of the tracks. If i could persuade anyone to watch this show and they enjoyed it like i have id be happy. But dont come looking for a big intelligent long winded anime this one is straight to the point shoot first, no time to ask questions.

I was so excited to think id found a torrent for Ultimate Teacher!
4 days later i find that its the spanish version :furious:

Its just a completely ridiculous anime
GC2.gif

At a run down school the "Ultimate Teacher" Ganpachi is sent to get things back on track and prepare the delinquent students for the real world. But the students don't want Ganpachi ruining the gang they got going so their boss, Hinako, fights back Ganpachi aided by her secret power...her lucky kitty underwear. Things get more interesting when we findout Ganpachi is the result of genetic experiments.

i think we had a brief discussion on here about it before. When i first saw this i thought it was hilarious so im not sure if it would still be as good now because that was a long time ago. But its quite hard to find and im not even sure they released it on DVD yet.
