I thought the exact opposite - Ronin was ridiclously over-hyped and a bad story with bad art (and especially bad coloring). The Spider-Woman issues were very well written and Cho was great.

If we never see Ronin again color me thrilled.

I didn't pay much attention to the hype. I knew who she was cause project let it slip. But I liked it.

They hype made it sound like a major character was joining the team, and most people were expecting Daredevil. A few guessed Fury.

Echo is a minor character from a (sorry MwoF) pretty minor book. I had never heard of her before it was "leaked" that she was Ronin.

Me either. But I read Daredevil later. So I knew. I guessed Fury myself.

Just because you don't read it doesn't mean it's anywhere near one of Marvel's "Minor books". Sorry E, had to defend it. Use your words more carefully. I agree Echo was a let down for nonfans and was nothing more than a "wha-huh -- this is nice" surprise for the DD fans. At least we can admit that it was overhyped without bashing the character who had nothing to do with it.

It wasn't a putdown. Some of the better books are the ones that don't sell in larger numbers. I certainly wasn't bashing DD the character or the book.

Re: New Avengers series discussion (spoilers)

A local comic shop decided to start selling the new releases for tomorrow this afternoon so I grabbed a bunch of my picks for tomorrow. I know this is a spoiler thread...but for those who don't wanna know what happens until tomorrow----skip past the italic. But for those who do.......it's out in the open.

You gotta be kidding me!!!!!

#18 was pretty disappointing. Even though we get a small cameo from the Young Avengers....its still not enough to counter the fact that not only did Ms Marvel NOT get her but handed to her......but she actually got her cosmic powers back for a brief minute.

At least the cover is true.

The whole issue was about how nobody can hang with the villain except Ms Marvel. Until she starts losing...and the Sentry comes in to save the day. He basically cracks open a tall one of whup *** on the creature. While Sentry grabs the villain and battles him in space....the crew on Earth find out that the villain isn't actually a cosmic being. It's actually an Alaskan postal worker who has been possessed. When SHIELD tries to determine the source of it's powers....a huge screen pops up with a BUNCH of ex-mutants. Spidey says he knows what the being is....cut to the cliffhanger ending of the creature heading back to Earth.

Possessed by what you might ask??? It's obvious that all the energy/powers of all the depowered mutants due to HoM has possessed the mail clerk.

Weak issue.

2/5.

I'm also saddened by the fact that Luke Cage had no lines. And if he did they were kinda like the black guy in "Not Another Teen Movie". Cage might as well just said "Damn" and "That's whack".......

What did you do? Get an early copy?

If so, even though its a spoiler thread, for something like this, its best for a small warning since its not officially out.

Re: New Avengers series discussion (spoilers)

Yeah....I mentioned it on the Daredevil thread. A local store decided to sell tomorrow's issues today. Don't know why...didn't bother to ask.

Small warning added...

Sounds like every other New Avengers issue.

Re: New Avengers series discussion (spoilers)

As has eveyone else. I don't know anyone who would pick New Avengers over Young Avengers if given the choice.

Re: New Avengers series discussion (spoilers)

The issue was enjoyable. Nothing too spectacular as people already figured out what they were dealing with the ex-mutant powers and all already. Art was great of course. Deodato Jr. is the friggin' man.

3/5

I'm just not impressed with his art. I like McNiven....but Finch was just perfect for it.

Re: New Avengers series discussion (spoilers)

Thanks for the summary, Ice.

I thought the issue was great.

Starts off with SHIELD picking up Daisy Johnson, who initially sorta refuses SHIELD's pleas until they tell her Captain America needs her.

The Young Avengers are listening to Jarvis talk about The Kree-Skrull War and Rick Jones (who they consider the first "YA") at Stark Towers when Tony calls on Vision to help them.

The New Avengers are fighting this collective guy and Iron Man gets his armor ripped off of him. Carol tussles with him and she's about to get her *** handed to her and at that moment The Sentry comes to the rescue taking The Collective to outerspace to brawl him. Danver's says it was like fighting a variety of powers at once as she absorbed them.

Parker's at SHIELD with Vision where they figure out that The Collective is all of the mutant powers collected. They also find who might be the Collective's host. Some "Michael" postal worker from Alaska where The collective landed.

The remaining New Avengers get their **** together and Captain America uses tony's armor to locate Tony who was blown a distance from them.

In Space The Sentry gets his *** handed to him and The Collective returns towards Earth.

4.5/5

Loved the action, loved the art, subtle Young Avengers appearance and Vision takes a role in this. Just good stuff.
