I hate him because he doesn't do anything besides talk about his stupid revenge, he didn't even work hard to get his power, he has a sharingan that just make him win battles. Kakashi is gay for Sasuke and ignores Naruto. Sasuke betray his friends in the first oportunity to get more powerful and he does that with the guy who killed the Third Hokage.
Basically I hate him for that.

Naruto didn't exactly work for his power either. He got it from the Kyuubi and a scroll that he stole. In all honesty, Sasuke has worked harder than Naruto has to become a Ninja.

Yeah but now the kyuubi is pretty much useless to him. It's true that he used it as a crutch early on but he seems to be weening himself off it.

I guess my point is that all of the Ninja in Naruto take shorcuts, most people just choose not to see it. Naruto wants to master his elemental powers? Oh, he doesn't have to do that, he can just make a bunch of Kaga Bunshin and have them do it for him. I honestly don't even know why I'm defending Sasuke to this point...Sasuke isn't my favorite character, I just don't hate him.

And maybe Sasuke abandoned his friends. Whatever. Remember when he jumped in front of a bunch of Haku's needles to save Naruto, almost killing himself? He's not such a cold hearted bastard, killing his brother just happens to be what's most important. Everyone in Naruto has a stupid dream, and it comes before everything else.

True, but of the main characters its really only those two. Look at Sakura for instance, she used to suck *** but now she is pretty damn strong.

If he really was unredeemable then he would have killed Naruto when he had the chance in part 1.
 
New Naruto is out. Like I said in the manga thread, Deidara almost got 'em. He really did. But Sasuke is the ubermensch, so he wiggled free. He probably could have killed Deidara rather than punch him, but much like a Bond villain he left his opponent alive in order to explain plot points to him. After the gloating ends the two stare each other down and the next chapter promises to be the end of this fight.

It hasn't happened just yet, but considering who his opponent is...

Is the anime near the manga, storywise? I started to watch the Shippuden series now, it is awesome! I really enjoyed the fillers, but shippuden started great, I'm at episode 4 now but I know that there are 19 episodes, so is the anime close to the manga?

It's around 3 or 4 arcs behind the manga right now, and will probably go into filler at some point.
 
New chapter is up. Deidara goes boom. Everyone sees the explosion. The Akatsuki assume that he took Sasuke and Tobi with him. He didn't get Sasuke, but Tobi is still MIA by the end of the issue. Akatsuki leader says that Deidara was special, but Tobi is easily replaced (LIES!!!!). And he actually tells the others to mourn his loss. Kisame seems more interested in the death of cheerful Tobi. Since when did they care about each other? Then we finally get a name and a face for the Akatsuki leader. And unfortunately for Wade he's
not the 4th. Name is Pein. Face has the craziest eyes you've seen yet. Seriously, it puts the sharingan to shame.
. We also see the face of the mystery female member and we're introduced to a shadowy figure
that's ordering the Akatsuki around.
Who the hell can do that? Oh and the Akatsuki leader himself will now set off to capture the kyuubi. NICE!

Great issue.

I was really surprised about the shadowy figure at the end, also it was a pretty clever way for Saskue escape Deidara's explosion. The only thing that was really kind from left field was Akatsuki caring about their dead members.

I wonder if in the next issue the Konoha ninja will meet Sasuke's team or if Sasuke will escape first.

I guess everyone loves Tobi. Even sociopathic rogue ninjas.
