Marvel Cinematic Universe - Timeline

That actually makes me think they would want to put out more than 13 episodes. Once they've got the set and costumes produced, they've got them. Might as well use them.

That's a bit simplistic, though. Sure, a main set built for the show can be re-used, and certainly some of the costumes. But each episode will likely also occur at different locations, meaning those locations need to be re-dressed to reflect the 1946 timeframe, different 40's era automobiles need to be rented from auto collectors as back dressing/props, etc. So each additional episode comes with a pretty large price to produce.

That said, Game of Thrones is only 10-episode seasons and I'm actually fine with that. So 13 episodes will be great also. I'm hoping they stagger it with SHIELD, though, to plug in the holes for weeks without SHIELD. There were almost exactly 13 weeks between SHIELD's pilot and season 1 finale that didn't have episodes.

Yeah, but much of that 13 weeks was due to the holiday airing schedule (airing holiday specials in the back half of December), and during February it wasn't aired at all due to the Olympics. While we'll have the same approach this December, February 2015 won't be filled completely by Olympics coverage, leaving no room for new episodes.

I'm hoping they hold off AoS's 2nd Season premiere for early to mid October (as opposed to early Sept like it was done with Season 1) so as not to require too many repeats. That's 4-5 weeks of less repeat airing if they do so, while still allowing for the season finale to air next May.

I'm not sure how they're going to air Agent Carter. It could be used as a mid-season replacement for another show and air December to February, perhaps acting as a replacement for AoS to take a mid season break. It could air concurrently, airing after AoS on the same night or even a different night (though I think airing their two Marvel shows one after the other would be a smarter move, both in terms of ratings carry over and theme). It could even air as a summer time show from June to August.

We'll probably get more details at SDCC in July.

I wouldn't even mind if it was just one season that covered her career and the start of SHIELD. It doesn't need to be an ongoing show like Agents of SHIELD. It would probably be better for the universe in the long run if it was a tightly written 13-episode series about the beginnings of SHIELD and the growth of Hydra within their ranks.

I'm pretty sure I read that the writers want to have the season be about one main threat in 1946, then, if it gets brought back for a second season, one more season-long threat in 1947, etc.

I was kind of hoping they'd do it like Mad Men and skip ahead in years between seasons. Would be cool to tie-in with a young Hank Pym if that was the case.

I'm doing a new Spring cleaning of the timeline, and I only use movies and MCU canon comics to take only official dates.

I think it could be better to only bold the dates that are officially written/heard/seen on screen or in comics, no?
Like this we could see where it's just an assumption and work easier on the timeline.

For example, Fury met Tony Stark the night of "I Am Iron Man" and not the next day.
source: "1/2 Day After IM", official phase 1 timeline in the Avengers artbook.
source: "That night...", I Am Iron Man #2

We know Coulson has a rendez-vous on the 24, but we don't know the day, the month or the year.
We know that the next day of this rendez-vous, we are Sunday, and logically the 25 :p
Source: "Sunday" is written on the Chronicles newspaper.

I would put only "24" and "Sunday" in bold, even if in my opinion, it's of course "Saturday 24 May 2008" and "Sunday 25 May 2008".
Doing this would help you knowing what could work and what to not touch.

What do you think?

That makes sense. Though most dates are drawn from the onscreen dates, and then estimated from there based on passage of days shown in the films (TIH's Day markers, for example).

But yeah, I think it'd be a good thing. Once I'm done with updating/formatting all my timelines over on thetimelinesite.com and finished with my chronological watch through of all the Star Wars films and Clone Wars TV series (I'm currently halfway through Season 4), I plan on re-watching/re-reading the MCU canon chronologically also, just to see if it can be tightened up any.

Are you still working on the DCAU timeline?

Never believe imdb: every people can write on it and put what they want.

Do you really think Marvel can choose an actor 3 years (2017) before the movie even be in development?

Hmmm, I was unaware of that. Although, I wouldn't put it past Marvel to think that far ahead.

I just checked out thetimelinesite.com Are all of those your timelines? That's nuts.

Yup. I'm currently going through all the files on my PC and converting them so some of the timelines I did in Excel will follow the format I've done for timelines like the MCU.

You should do a Star Trek timeline!

I've done one based on the new continuity of the Abrams films, it's spin off comics, and Starfleet novels. Didn't bother with the original continuity since that has been timelined out the wazoo already, but the new continuity hasn't. I'll get that posted eventually.
