Heroes seasons 1 & 2 series discussion [spoilers]

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Great episode. I'm glad Nathan is iffy on the explosion. He may have some good left in him. And I don't think that's Mrs. Petrelli. I'm thinking it might be Candice, for one reason: Petrelli Mater was in league to protect Claire from the Company, right? If she was against the Company about this, then why is she plotting away with Linderman? It doesn't seem right.

I also thought it was cool to get an idea on Sylar's personality. On one hand, we have Gabriel, who is pretty much a good person, trying to live up to his mother's expectations ( we now know where this desire to be special comes from). Gabriel peeks his head out from time to time. On the other hand, there is Sylar, the totaly corruption of Gabriel, due to the infusion of many powers. Did you see how he got such perverse pleasure from using his freezing ability?

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Pretty good episode. I don't think it was as good as "Five Years Gone", but as Maxwell pointed out, it was excellent for character development. There were a few continuity errors (regarding Mohinder and his sister) but I'll let bygones be bygones.

Sylar, as usual, was harsh! I liked the dichotomy of the character and I even felt sorry for him for a bit. One question: What did he paint on the floor with his mother's blood? I couldn't quite make it out.

Last 2 episodes FTW. Let's go!

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Interesting to note that Candice is not a morpher. She's more like Mastermind than Mystique.

I like Hiro jumping around through time and annoying Sylar and his super hearing, like Bugs Bunny to his Daffy Duck.

My Yelling At The Screen moment this week was Sylar begging, BEGGING, his mom to tell him he didn't have to be special. She could have ended his killing spree right then and there, but she didn't.

Heroes - The Storylines (some spoilers)

I think everyone has noticed the similarities between the current Heroes stories and some classic storylines from comics, like Watchmen, and Days of Future Past.

I was thinking how could they fit other comic stories into the mix? for example Civil War could probably be done quite easily, would be fairly similar to the Five Years Gone story but I think could be made very interesting, with say Nathan leading the registration charge with Peter fighting against it etc.

What other stories would work in the Heroesverse?

Re: Heroes - The Storylines (some spoilers)

Deadly Genesis. The Petrellis need more relatives popping out of the wood works.

Re: Heroes - The Storylines (some spoilers)

V for Vendetta obviously, with future Hiro being a sort of "V" character.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

#21 was a fun episode. It's obvious Peter won't blow in #22, which would mean that the trigger for the bomb is specifically done by Linderman and the Company. Which explains why Nathan, in Peter's dream, is calm and willing to help him out.

The fact that Peter gave Claire the gun also explains a great deal about why she reacts the way she does in Peter's bomb dream.

As for Mikah - a friend suggested he's going to rig the election, which does make a lot of sense, but that doesn't link him so much to the bomb...

Hiro's sword is broken! Aaah! I was so terrified that Hiro and/or Ando would die. I can imagine Hiro being dead even if the second season focuses on his family, because we suddenly discover Ando's power is he can talk to ghosts, and thus, Hiro dies but Ando does all the stuff for him! AAAAA! I don't want Hiro to die.

Sylar was pretty good in the episode as well, as were all the President cracks.

I'm convinced though that Nathan will fly Peter into the air or far away so that the bomb does go off, but it doesn't kill anyone - except Nathan (possibly, he'll fly him to Linderman's place and blow up the company). Nathan will die which will prevent the Sylar-President future and hopefully give everyone a shot at a future. I also think that this is the only way for Nathan to have both a life of meaning and of happiness, thus properly sticking it to Linderman.

I loved how DL and Niki think that they and Mikah are the only superhumans on the planet and a science experiment. Great continuity there.

And the Walker system! Aaaaaa! So obvious! How did I not notice it earlier?! Very good stuff. It'll be exciting when Bennet, Parkman, and Ted all go in to destroy the system only to discover it's a little girl being protected by Suresh...

It's really nicely building up. #22 will be a *****, no doubt...

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

It's time for us to have a Columbo moment together. That moment where you raise your hand to your forehead as you put the pieces together, and pat yourself down for your notepad and pencil, which of course, you've lost.

Here's the interesting part: To stretch the normal 22-episode season of "Heroes," which faltered after its long hiatus this year, NBC will add "Heroes: Origins." The spinoff will introduce a new character each week, and viewers will select which one stays for the following season. The two series will have 30 new episodes combined.

I'm not so sure about this. . .

Lame.

If it's a short season, then let it just be a short season. No need to add filler episodes and tarnish the existing project.

Beat me to it. Basically, what it looks like is they'll have the first batch of episodes for season 2, then during their 7-8 week hiatus, they'll show origin episodes for characters, that might appear in season 3. I'm thinking they'll show maybe 8 different characters, and then the veiwers get to choose which of them they like the most.

If this is stupid, it might kill Heroes...

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

yeah. um.

KEEP YOUR AMERICAN IDOL OUT OF MY HEROES!!

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I just heard a commercial for Heroes (Which should be starting right now!) and these are the exact lines from the end of the commercial:

"FOUR WORDS:

THE HEROES SEASON FINALE.

'NUFF SAID."

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I just watched ".07%". Next week's episode looks like the ****. This is what Heroes is about.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Once again, an excellent episode. Three deaths, plenty of buildup for the finale. With everything that's been going on, it's still hard to call how this is all going to end up.

Linderman getting his brain massaged was killer (no pun... ah, screw it, pun intended). It sucked to see Ted get his head chopped, but I guess that makes it possible for Peter to play the hero... maybe. My own theory is that Nathan, who has been arguably the most conflicted character of the series, will end up saving the day... perhaps at the cost of his own life.

Still, it's hard to call, so I'm not even going to try. Definitely looking forward to next Monday, though.

This isn't lame at all.

There is a huge need for something like this when a large majority of viewers stop watching over summertime because they lose interest waiting for the next season of the serialized story. You're again jumping the gun and judging something before having even seen it (I notice this is a real problem for you.) Its a novel way of retaining viewership, moreso since its trying to allow viewers to gain a bit of control.

Will it be successful? Maybe, maybe not. But at least they're trying to maintain viewership, which means if successful the show will be on for years to come.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

2 HOUR FINALE! Shall be awesome.

It seems the past few episodes have all been build up, which is perfectly fine. Sylar playing around with Peter was cool; it makes you think if Peter can face up agains Sylar. He doesn't think he can. The previews showed Sylar facing off with Peter...and he looked like he was gonna lose control.

My theory: Peter blows up first (loses control of his radiation powers). Just as he's gonna blow, Sylar does it himself (he's pissed because he wanted to blow up; can't let Peter do his work). The explosions do some damage, but then cancel each other out.

Tons of deaths too. Ted, Thompson, Linderman....they've taken out some of the big names from the Company. And then one main character dies off at the end....hmmm

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Linderman's DEAD?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!??!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

"What am I thinking now, Parkman?"
"You're last thought."

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

"Boom."

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

"Ando's going to try to kill Sylar."
"Then he's going to die."

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

DL's dead?!?!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

I'm convinced Nathan will die by flying the bomb super high into the sky or somewhere where the explosion won't cause as many casualties. This would be a perfect bookend. If Peter is about to explode, and Nathan flies him somewhere where he won't kill people, but dies in the process, it's perfect. It totally is a flipping the bird to Linderman and his mum - the bomb goes off, the world is saved, no one dies - especially not Peter. It totally prevents the future from happening exactly as we saw it - with Nathan dead there won't be President Sylar. It's also means Nathan gets what he wants - a life of meaning AND a life of happiness; he'll prove he's not a villain. And it's also a perfect mirror of the first episode in which Peter spent all his time trying to convince his brother to fly, only to have Nathan fly in order to save him.

Hell yes, I know I am right. And if Tim Kring is reading this, he's going, "Man. This kid completely understands us and our show. Let us hire him as our new god. All hail Bass."

Also, I think Ando will die since Hiro has to be willing to 'cut out his own heart'. I think that element may mean Ando will perish - and I also think that phrase is completely appropriate to my "Nathan dies saving the world" scenario. Hiro in Landslide talks abotu the hero's journey and how Nathan's failed. I think the fact he came in contact with him, told him in the future he's a bad guy, plus on a structural level, linking the two - Nathan will make the ultimate sacrifice.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
