Harry Potter Discussion (spoilers)

I am more and more sure that Snape was in love with Lily. It just fits too well.

Well, that would make sense, she was nice to him, and beautiful, which is something that Snape didn't experience in his life. But she ended up with his arch enemy, and that must have hurt Snape, emotionally anyways, which is why he hates Potter, who was a result of James and Lily's union.

This theory may have been mentioned earlier by someone else, but it would explain why Dumbledore believed that Snape truly regretted telling the prophecy to Voldemort.

If Dudley does have latent magical powers, it seems like their manifestation or the time he got his Hogwarts letter would be his worst memory.

I think Dudley is completely normal, I just think the worst moment in his life is when he figured out that Harry would always be better than him

Urgh . . . can't . . . read . . . spoilers . . . .

Seriously, there are now spoilers about the book surfacing, and the fact that I've always been extremely gung ho about reading spoilers in the past is making this very hard for me. But I really would like to go into this without knowing anything that happens.

Unfortunately, I'm starting to wonder if I'll be able to help myself.

Fortunately, I think most of the spoilers I've read were fake. I say hold out. It's just three days away.

DAMN! There are spoilers EVERYWHERE I GO NOW! Apparently, the whole freakin' BOOK leaked onto the Interwebz!

I'm so tempted to look. . .so. tempted.

They've issued a statement that they're pretty positive there haven't been any leaks. but I know that bookstores around the country already have the books in boxes in the back under lock and key (i know my Borders does)... So the chances of an independent bookstore owner taking a peak isn't entirely unfeasable.

Anybody posts a spoiler in this thread before the book is released WILL get a one-week ban, I swear to God.

And when the book is released, a new Spoiler Thread will be started, but for the first seven days, even that thread will require Spoiler-Text for major spoilers... to be labeled "Chapter __" spoilers, to let slow readers talk about the book before they finish it.

Sound fair to everybody?

Yeah, I'm with DSF and Houde. I was going to suggest that in the spoiler thread you put a big bold CHAPTER # right at the top of your posts.

So in the first book one of the ghosts says Peeves "isn't really a ghost."

Was this ever brought up again? What is he?

A poltergeist. Poltergeists differ from ghosts in the HP universe in that they were never people, are solid, and are the embodiment of a concept, in this case, chaos.

I thought I edited that into my post, but I guess I messed up and it didn't post!

I wish she did more with the ghosts. The Bloody Baron needs a spotlight.

I hope they prosecute all the people spoiling the book, I'm soooooooo pissed right now. Don't go to the wiki page.

Sweet Jesus, why would you go to the Wiki page now? Why?!
I want to look up summaries of the first six books, since I don't have time to re-read them, but I'm afraid to enter the name "Harry Potter" into any website anywhere.

Just watch the movies and, uh. . . read the back cover of 6.
I've only got like, one of the movies on DVD. And I don't feel like going out and renting four movies. Your suggested solutions to my dilemmia are inconveniant and idiotic.

REJECTED.
to read speculation....it didnt turn out so well:evil: .

anyway...I saw these on another website and thought you guys might like them.

I just finished reading the 6th book and noticed something about RAB.

Dumbledore, when describing the cave and various enchantments protecting the Horcrux, says "One could not have done it alone."

So, RAB is more then one person?
