A local comic shop decided to start selling the new releases for tomorrow this afternoon so I grabbed a bunch of my picks for tomorrow. I know this is a spoiler thread...but for those who don't wanna know what happens until tomorrow----skip past the italic. But for those who do.......it's out in the open.

#84.........a REALLY great issue. The best had to be the first 3 pages. The entrance of Bullseye to Rykers!!! Matt gets a lead on who ordered the hit on Foggy and corners a guard in the dark. The guard tells him he's just an errand boy and points Matt in the direction of Hammerhead in Cellblock A. Matt ties a red bandana around his head to disguise himself and kicks the piss outta Hammerhead's guards and henchmen. He then proceeds to hand some lethal torture type blows to Hammerhead. I believe this is called "having your *** handed to you". For 3 full pages!!!! Unfortunately---Hammerhead isn't really any help. Turns out that he's a pawn too.

Meanwhile out in the city....Urich and Dakota come across a lead as to who the new "Daredevil" is. The lead is a drunk and basically gives them nothing. But Urich recognizes the drunk as an old worker for Kingpin.

Back at Rykers....Kingpin is released back into gen-pop. He informs a local snitch that he has a message he wants delivered to Matt. While that's going on, the warden pleads with Matt to stop the violence and let his men get control of the prison again. Matt plays dumb and blind.

Cut to a couple politicians plotting against Matt. Nothing major revelaed here. But across town at a small diner a man is reading the Daily Bugle. The title is slander against Matt. The man notices a woman being beat by a pimp outside. The waitress looks up and notices it too. When she turns her attention back to the man at the table---he's gone. We see the pimp about to beat the woman some more......then CRACK!!!! Pimp's neck goes crack. A cop sees this and draws his weapon and tells the man to put his hands in the air. The man complies and turns around. The officer immediately calls for back up. The next panel reveals that the man is The Punisher!!!!!

I  Brubaker and this book.

I still want to read Brubaker's Daredevil.

My mini-review:

Daredevil #84 (Brubaker/Lark; Marvel). Interesting issue as things inside and outside of prison begin to unravel. I'm not sure I buy the ease with which Matt moves through the prison - I know the guards are shown as corrupt and that Matt's senses help him detect the cameras and security, but I'd think it'd be more difficult than wrapping a red rag around your head (very subtle, Matt, no one will make that connection - not that he cares who makes what connection anymore) and picking the electronic lock on your cell. Funky tense in the opening page narration, but through that scene we can now officially rule out Bullseye from the list of people who might be masquerading as DD (not that he was a good choice anyway). Very nice two-page flashback-narration look at Matt's state of mind, where he talks about helping along the chaos inside the prison. I like the way the multiple plot elements are handled - there are a lot of scene cuts in this issue, some of which are out of time sequence, and yet it all flows together well. The "special guest star" is probably my least favorite Marvel character of all, so I hope this is brief.

More comments - there are some interesting things in this issue. Matt talks about DD in the third person, as though he's a separate ID, and also mentions that DD has always been Matt holding himself back. The implication is that those restraints are gone now, and you can see Matt make some pretty rash choices. I think he puts the red mask on because he NEEDS to, not because he's using it to conceal himself.

Best issue of Bru's run so far and I imagine it'll be hard to beat but expect Bru and Lark to easily take down their own piece of art.

VVD's summary was good but missing a few semi-important Daredevil characters. At least there were some surprises left for me.

First off, Bullseye's entrance/introduction was single handily the biggest badass moment I've ever read in comics.

Alton Lennox is the name givin to Ben and Dakota by the former Kingpin employee/drunk, "Drivin" Ivan Murphy. There's a lot of speculation on if this name has some kind've hidden meaning or it's an anagram for something. I have no leads myself... What fun...

"The messenger" that Kingpin is rooming with apparently is none other than Turk  . Apparently he has asked for forgiveness from Wilson Fisk and is working for him again. Kingpin also tells him he knows about Bullseye being in the area too.

And the two politicians? It's the F.B.I. Director talking to a senetor (Engel). Engel's pissed the F.B.I. Director has put a hero of the public in such an obvious hell.

The Punisher intro... "I surrender. Take me away"  So great.

See...I just picked this up at the beginning of Brubaker's arc, so all those names meant piss-all to me. But at least I tried...

Good comments MWoF and this was a great issue. Anyway I think the name "Alton Lennox" is a fake, wouldn't be surprised if its an anagram.

I read #84 today, without reading #82 or #83 before hand.

It was suprisingly easy to understand. Brubaker rocks on this title.

Just read #84 thanks to Project....

Holy Damn. I loved that ending.

I am SO getting the TPB of this now. This is so freaking good, I have to read it again.

Bullseye... Punisher...

Brubaker was born to write this title.

#85

Real quick here. Got it in the mail today.

It's mostly a filler issue. Not revealing anything. Lennox can't be found by Dakota and Urich, Matt finds that Kingpin is not responsible for the death of Foggy, No one still knows who the fake Daredevil is.

Punisher seems real level headed at first until he snaps on a prisoner to test Matt's own sanity.

When Murdock and Fisk meet out in the yard and neither end up killing each other, Hammerhead, The Blind mobster, and Tarantula are all in a secret meeting discussing a riot at the prison that's going to leave both Murdock and Kingpin dead.

good issue not as heart racing as the others but they can't all be shock for shock.

Next issue The whole Prison vs. Matt Murdock vs. Wilson Fisk vs. Bullseye vs. Frank Castle.
