Celebrity Deaths (updated weekly)

I almost rented Lost in La Mancha yesterday, in fact.

Yeah, Gilliam's a bit of a trooper. I actually liked Brothers Grimm.

Me, too. You should see LILM when you get a chance. It was a cool look into the movie-making process and a chance to see the awesome that could've been.

.................and Doom says meh.

I'm serious.

I mean it sucks that he's gone, but him dying and the local garbage man dying is no different [....] I really don't care. Call me cold-hearted. Call me an *******. Whatever. I refuse to care about some random celebrity.

Nope, I completely agree. Doesn't affect me any more than the general sadness when I hear about anyone(human or not) dying. It's sad for his friends and family and his real fans too, but millions are going through the same thing every day and I have no more or less condolence for them either.

You know, who else it REALLY sucks for (other than his friends, family, and fans obviously), is Terry Gilliam. HL was in the middle of filming a movie for him called "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus". Terry Gilliam might just throw in the towel on his career at this point.
Hell yeah.

I'm not exactly one of the screaming Gilliam fanboys, but I have liked every single one of his movies and would be disappointed if Parnassus really won't come to be. Production is supposedly being shut down as we speak.

Which sucks doubly because while Ledger was in a supporting role only, he was key to securing the financing for the film. No Ledger, no money.

Crap.

I was going to see that film just because of its title.
To be honest, the title reminds me of Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium.

Except I like Gilliam more than I like whatshisface, so Imaginarium would win anyway.

That's what people at school were saying today.

Speaking of people at school, there's a kid in my grade who was actually in my kindergarten class (and went with me to get J.K. Rowling's autograph in 3rd grade) waaay back when who looks a lot like Heath. I made the connection when Brokeback Mountain came out but forgot about it since, because I'm not in any classes with him. But today I walked by him in the hall and it just triggered that memory. At first I was wondering why I was taking notice of him in passing, but then I remembered, "Oh right, he looks like Ledger." My Science teacher noted the same thing to me today, so I'm thinking he must've gotten that before.

Lucky guy.

Possibly good news for Parnassus is that Johnny Depp may replace Heath Ledger. Still unconfirmed, but Depp isn't working on anything at the moment, so he is for all intents and purposes free to take on new acting duties.
According to British newspaper The Sun, a studio insider claims, "There is a point in the film when Heath falls through a magic mirror. He could change into another character after that and that is where Johnny would come in."

The source added, "It's a weird, fantasy, time-travel movie so Heath's character could easily change appearance. It would be a poignant moment. ... Johnny's not working at the moment so everyone is praying he will do it."

Interesting you would say that because I'm watching Return of the Jedi right now.
