Celebrity Deaths (updated weekly)

At the risk of playing mod, I think all this 'celeb sexuality' talk is veering off topic. But I also think it's an interesting and worthwhile subject, enough to break off into its own thread.

Mods?

Yeah, where's my sarcastic shock smiley dammit?

I wasn't a Frasier fan, mostly just from not being a fan of sitcoms in general, but he's AWESOME in Full Frontal and Wet Hot American Summer.

I hate that he's not going to be the voice of Abe in Hellboy 2

"Oh f*** my c**k!" is one of the best expressions of aggrivation ever conceived. Only Pierce could have delivered it that well.

And by the way, before I traced your conversation back to Cad's post, I spent a few horrifying seconds thinking he had died.:panic:

This isn't any big news. It's nice that he's come out, though.

Yeah, I wondered what anybody coming late into the conversation would think.

I wish I had more opportunity to say "Oh **** my ****!" than I do, but c'est la vie.

NOOOOO!!!!

I'm watching Hellboy on TV right now for the first time since I saw it in theaters and I was just thinking how he was the best character in the film!

:(

Sadly yes. Doug Jones the man in the suit and the VA for the cartoons, will be voicing Abe in HB2

So............Mr.Wizard is dead.

Weird.

I'm assuming he'll actually figure a way to cheat death and come back using a potato, baking soda and a funnel.

WWE is sad to report that Chris Benoit and his family have been found dead in their home. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Tonight's Raw will be a tribute to Chris and his family.

Damn this one has gotten to me. I've always been a huge Benoit fan. He has done loads for wrestling but also he seemed like a pretty straight forward guy. This is the first celebrity death since Eddie Guerrero to effect me.

Me too! It's totally bumming me out.

And beyond the obvious loss of a talented performer, there are so many other reasons why this sucks:

* It pretty much kills off any hope for credible ECW shows, in the near future, unless they do another belated trade. The ECW roster now has exactly ONE babyface (C.M. Punk) with enough star quality to carry the show. And from what I've read about Vengeance (haven't watched it yet -- it airs free here, later this week), Punk was very disappointing in his match.

* The timing of Benoit's death couldn't be worse, in terms of storylines. Any tribute shows for Benoit will now appear insincere, just because they happened so soon after the fake McMahon tribute episodes, a few weeks ago.

* Benoit was not one of the most skilled performers in the company, in terms of pure wrestling ability, and the only 'good guy' of his caliber. (The other 'shoot' type wrestlers are nominally heels -- Elijah Burke, Finlay, Regal, etc.)

This just sucks so much, I can't begin to express my perosnal grief...

Agreed. Also
Jonny nitro won the ecw title wtf?

Again agreed but only kind of. Vince tribute = mostly heels giving speeches. Benoit will have real emotion and people from all shows. I bet it'll have Rey and Chavo for a start which they wouldn't be able to fake.

tonight's raw was already set a 3 hours so raw tonight should be a 3 hour Benoit tribute

Another good point.

Here is something sad and also ironic , Both Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit both died when they were set to win the title.

makes this picture a lot sadder now

makes this picture a lot sadder now

Now i'm even MORE upset, after seeing that again...

I might've shown some hint of sadness if I didn't know that all wrestling is STAGED.
That doesn't make it any less tragic than when an actor dies.

Wrestlers may play character roles on TV, but they (mostly) have undeniable athletic skill and/or the ability to perform for a crowd in a way that fires them up, and holds their attention. That requires TALENT, and Benoit had plenty of it (arguably more than his peers, even).
