Why are you clumping Catholics together with Christians?

Jews and Christians are more closely related.

Oh Lord, I used to have that argument all the time in High School.

"Christians" (Or Protestants) split from Catholicism in the 16th century when Martin Luther created Lutheranism. He split due to the politics and disagreement with Catholic doctrine (Such as getting into Heaven on Good Deeds rather than Grace). They both use the Bible as their doctrine and they both believe Christ was the Saviour.

It's under Christianity. If you'd like to discuss it further, make a civil thread and I'll discuss it further.

I don't see a need for that. Seeing as how everyone (with one possible exception) agrees with this simple statement of FACT.

Let's just agree to agree and leave it at that. Besides we're wondering pretty far away from the topic.

The topic is Jerry Falwell is dead. Is he in hell with Dean Martin, limbo with all the unbaptized babies, or heaven with that guy from Nightcourt?

My internet's been messed up all day until about an hour ago... but let me just say...

HELL YES HE DESERVED TO DIE AND I HOPE HE BURNS IN HELL!

Seriously, I know it's not the nicest thing to disrespect the dead, but we're talking about a hypocrite, a bigot and a hate-monger. I won't "go there" like some people have and compare him to Vlad Tepes, Hitler, Mao, Mussolini or any number of actual mass-scale murderers through history, but if we didn't have the lovely (and endangered) concept of separation of church and state in these United States, I probably could make that connection.

At any rate, good riddance to bad rubbish. And some advice to everyone associated with Falwell and his interests: make sure you super glue the quarters on his eyes, because even though he's dead, he'll still try to pocket them.

Sorry. It just irks me everytime someone says that. . .But, I pretty much agree with everything Willverine said. The guy was scum, plain and simple.

We agree again. Huh, it's like Falwell's death has the ability to unite the world. Who wants to sing We Are the World with me?

I believe he's implying that you've gone robotic.

(Doing best Lionel Ritchie impression... and it's a damn good one): There comes a tiiiime.... when we heed a certain call... and the world... must come together as onnneee.....

Now you join in.

We are the world, we are the children, we are the ones who make a brighter day, so let´s start giving. There´s a choice we´re making, we´re saving our lives, it´s true we make a better day, just you and me!

1984 reference. All I mean is that you can't ask Mavericker to discuss it with you because he's banned.

Well, damn. I didn't even notice. I'm oblivious to such things. Maybe I'll make a Religion thread later. That should go well.

And, one day, I'll actually get down to reading 1984. Maybe this summer. . .

It's important that you do. Aside from its ideas, relevance, and iconic status in our culture.... it's also a thumpin' good read.
Well it's on my list of things to read this summer. Since I have no job or school I decided to catch up on all the reading I miss out on because of how busy I usually am.

I'm going to read If Chins Could Kill first though.

I think you are my new favorite person, McCheese. If Chins Could Kill is awesome. Almost as awesome as its author. :D

I've been reading If Chins Could Kill for about two years. I'm only about 2/3 of the way through. I save it for whenever I have any kind of appointment and read it in the waiting room. I'll be sad the day I finally finish it, but by that time enough time will have passed since I read the first part that I can just start all over again.

I hear it's good and I've been meaning to read it for some time now. As for its author, I started The Bruce Campbell Thread. So you know I'm a fan.

Seriously, cannot wait to read this book. Everyone loves it.
