Re: Captain America series discussion (SPOILERS!)
no really
A) ultimate universe didn't build off the end of anything
B) there was only one book at the beginning, only 4 or 5 books now
C) i'll give you C
yeah but
a) did start at a he beginning of a new era
b)may of started with one but it spread and each one had new creative teams
c) you gave me
Now IMO there is no point in basically relaunching original universe (ok not a relaunch as such but you know what I mean) as IMO it takes away from Ultimate one.
Also these changes are going to suck for new fans. More new fans will get in to marvel thanks to the movies rather than a little news page on yahoo or msn.
The changes make the comics step away from what they originally were and so step away from a lot of key parts of films which even if things happen different in movie they still stay as close as they can to original comics (most of the time)
Now e.g Spider-man. Some people will not of seen 1 or 2 yet. They see 3 advertised and so pick up 1 + 2. they decide to get in to comics thanks to it. They try amazing spider-man as its the core title.
He's unmasked , He is no longer working for bugle and much more which will confuse a lot of new readers and put them off it. So marvel may get a boost in sales for 1-4 months but then it'll drop back down and blow up in their face.
In doing this to encourage new readers they have actually scared new readers and made a a big chunk of regular readers quit too. Bad move on their part and one that did not need to happen
Punisher cap is just one of these moves
