Bryan Singer on Ultimate X-Men.

Well, my point exactly... This all comes back to the fact that he's full of himself, which he shouldn't be. This not only seperates Lee from the UXM but it seperates UXM from the other Ultimate titles, which are presented by Lee, too. I don't get it.
And once again people are blaming that on Singer. Why would you guys automatically blame Singer for that? How do you know that it wasn't an editor's decision, or Joe Q.'s? You don't, so you can just go saying "Singer is full of himself for that".

Singer himself said that he was going to change it. It may have been in jest, who knows, but it would've been because he wasn't actually writing, it was those two others guys that would be putting something together.

Yes, if I were EIC, I'd definitely want it stand alone, not touching the movie-verse with a 39.5 foot poll, however, marketting-wise, it may be a good way to get new fans in. I don't agree with that method, but it may be money in the long run.

I'm with Goody on this one. It's totally egomaniacal.

I don't buy the using his name to draw in new fans bit either. They didn't do it with Card and they didn't do with with Whedon, and arguably they have much, MUCH bigger pull with "fans" than Singer does. For the most part, nobody cares about directors. Things would be different obviously if it were, say, Quentin Tarentino - but even then, he's a writer too, like Card and Whedon.

While I agree, I think Marvel is looking at Singer as a more mainstream writer than, say, Card or Whedon. I didn't know who Whedon was until Astonishing and I knew Ender's Game and that series but I didn't know the person's name who wrote it. I may not be as far off as you imagine. Bryan Singer may be more recognizeable than these guys, who knows.

Yeah, but Card has written some emmensely popular books, and Whedon has a cult following with Buffy fans. I'll tell you what - I knew who Card and Whedon were before it was announced they had Marvel books coming out. I had never heard of Singer even though I saw both X-Men films.

When did that come out?
97 or 98. I dont remember. But from what Ive heard it is a really good movie.

Geez I wasn't even in high-school. I didn't go to the movies much before hs.

Amyways, getting back on topic, far as it's been said, his run will probably deal with Phoenix, "tying" into the movie, as the third one is about Phoenix too. Dark Phoenix, but Phoenix nonetheless.

I don't think the tie is a good thing, but I won't care as long as the story is good. Hope they say who the artist will be soon.

Thought they said a while back that it was Andy K?

Ice is right, there hasn't been an artist announced yet; Marvel keeps on telling us it's "top secret" although that's hard to believe because a project as big as House of M is already releasing pages from it. If everything is so "top secret" why not keep it that way?

My guess is that it's because they're going to have a month where they spotlight Singer on UXM and have lots of previews and things of the sort. Either that or they're waiting to announce it at a major convention for maximum publicity.

Well, Joe Q. will be at the WWTP (Wizard World Tour Philadelphia) in June. By that time, we'll have the previews for August, though that time there will be nothing with Singer yet. Maybe Joe Q. will say something at the convenrion.
