Bruce Timm Universe Adoration Thread

See no offence guys but this is why I rarely post anything like this , Because when I do (besides bass) it always gets ignored and lost in a sea of posts

You're not wrong, BTAS was and always will be one of the greatest televison shows of all time. In my opinion I'll always pick JLU over that becasue it's more of my cup of tea. And the Cadmus arc is the greatest thing ever. EVAR!

Although I think JLU was obviously much better than BTAS, it hasn't diminished BTAS at all for me. I still see it like it is.

The only thing that diminished BTAS are the overly garish and comedic tones it took in the later seasons. I don't know how Bruce Timm can bash Joel Schumacher so vehemently when he oversaw episodes like "Harley's Holiday", "Beware the Creeper", the first part of "Holiday Knights" and "Girl's Night Out".

Excessive amounts of a bratty Tim Drake and Batgirl also brought the show down quite a bit. The 4th "New look" season was still really good overall, but it rarely bore any resemblance to the rich, gritty, often creepy show it used to be.

Also, I will never forgive them for what they did with Mr. Freeze in Season 4, and all for the sake of a single episode.

Did you ever see the second BTAS movie, Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero? If not, I can't tell you because I would have to spoil it's ending for you to understand why what they did sucks on so many levels.

No i didn't but it's ok , you can spoil it

Seems so considering when it was meant to be produced. Bear in mind that when they did Starcrossed, they didn't know they'd be picked up (hence why they blew up the Watchtower and got rid of Hawkgirl), so when they got picked up, I'm sure that's when this was discussed.

As for it being a rehash - it seems its purpose was to give WW her invisible jet and balloon the League to its 60+ members, which is a rather different purpose than the Justice Lords, which is about a dark mirror version of the Justice League. I dunno how it was meant to go, obviously, but that's how it seems to me.

I think it'd be cool if the movie started with the Crime Syndicate having taken over the world by trapping most of the Justice League on Earth-3, then Martian Manhunter telepathically calling together all of Earth's other heroes to stop them.

Could lead to some cool moments, like Supergirl and Captain Marvel ganging up on Ultraman or something.

I agree, Batman had this great serious and sincere tone that was lost in the transitions, in fact I didn't like the redesigns cause they felt way too cartoony. Particularly how Bruce Wayne looked, he was way too emo and lacked the humanity I liked for the beginning.

That's why I really loved Batman Beyond, everything I didn't like in the redesign they made up for, that was a great episode for Freeze and worthy as his last appearance, considering how great his first was.

I loved Batman Beyond (or Batman of the future as we called it) I think my favourite episodes were the Ink ones and return of the joker movie

Return of the Joker is in the top ten of most badass Timmverse storylines.

Did you see the uncut version? It never showed in the UK but I got the US dvd of it.

The problem I had with Batman TAS is that there are some moments that make no sense. And there a few iffy episodes, but it was one of the best cartoons back in the day and still is.

But it doesn't compare to JLU.

I never really liked Return of the Joker, mostly because I didn't like seeing Tim get shafted.
