Batman: The Brave and the Bold (series discussion)

Re: New Batman Animated Series to Air on Cartoon Network

Oh my god, I love this show so much.

They should have done this a long time ago.

Also, on an somewhat unrelated note: the entire tone of the series right down to the style of music used, reminds me of my favorite superhero game of all time: Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich..

I love the use of Kirby jazz for some of the special effects, the quirky and groovy soundtrack, the crazy return of the all-purpose utility belt, and the sheer refusal to disavow anything crazy like space pirates, dinosaurs and The ****ing Clock King.

My favorite thing about Clock King was his escape Clock-Copter (Clopter?), there's not enough room for his henchmen so they have to hang on the pendulum. A ****ing pendulum on a CLOPTER.

R Lee Ermy was soooo painfully perfect as Wildcat, I loved the twist on the Outsiders, although, not a fan of school girl Katana, made her seem too generic.

OBJECTION YOUR HONOR!

As great as Ermy was as Wildcat, I prefer Dennis Farina from the Timmverse. But considering the age-context here...Ermy was the better choice.

AND DOUBLE OBJECTION!

I  School-girl Katana.

Re: New Batman Animated Series to Air on Cartoon Network

I just saw the first episode, "Rise of the Blue Beetle".

...

There are not enough words to describe the wonder.

I love it. I'm downloading the other five as we speak and am so very, very, eager for more.

Oh don't get me wrong, Ferina was great too. I just liked Ermy in this a lot. Still kinda not all that impressed with stereotype!Katana. Don't get me wrong, she was cute, just too much of a US stereotype of a Japanese teen.

Agreed.

I guess they didn't think her costume would work on this show?

I'm pretty sure I saw her wearing it on the comic tie-in.

Then again, Black Lighting is just wearing a hoodie. Maybe they're just going casual?

Was thinking about it, they could come back later looking more "superheroy" after being molded by Wildcat.

Saw the Santa episode.

The alley scene was absolutely brilliant.

Re: New Batman Animated Series to Air on Cartoon Network

Well, I'm watching 'The Day of the Dark Knight' and it's fairly okay, if not very engrossing.

I spotted Louie the Lilac, The Bookworm, The Archer, The Clock King, The Mad Hatter and Shame, all in their 1966-Adam-West-show forms.

I still stand by everything I said in the initial couple of pages in this thread. The money used to create this show would have been better off used to create a serious Batman show.

Found that comic tie-in cover with Katana in costume.

Aww, she's adorable.

I love the show, but I agree that they probably should have done that, if only to capitalize on the success of the Dark Knight.

(Keep your darker and edgier out of my Shazam movie, thank you very much...)

Re: New Batman Animated Series to Air on Cartoon Network

Says you.

You havent seen the show yet. Call me back when you've actually seen it.

Sure it might suck but it also might be good.....we won't know till it comes out.

Now I've seen the show, I can confirm Planet-Man's original statement. It is an extremely un-Batman-like show. Even if it started winning Emmys, it wouldn't be a Batman show. It's a buddy-cop show with tights.

Re: New Batman Animated Series to Air on Cartoon Network

Despite the small level of amusement I get from the show, I endorse this statement that the money spent would've been better spent on a serious Batman show.

I'll even go as far as saying I prefer The Batman to this.

I wish Jackie Chan teamed up The Batman and have one rompin good time searching for those medallions of his.

Boom.

Any more endorsements and I'll be a Formula 1 driver.
