Batman: The Brave and the Bold (series discussion)

Re: New Batman Animated Series to Air on Cartoon Network

;)

Actually, I haven't read the past couple arcs. I have the first trade, been meaning to pick up the second (though I read that in single issues). Haven't read past that. Fully plan to, though.

But I'm thinking along the lines of slightly less adult-themed. Superman as more of your innocent, high-school bully with super-powers as opposed to the extreme sex and violence kick of The Boys (which I love). I don't want to see Douchbag-Superman punch through people's chests o anally rape Lois with a corn-cob from Pa Kent's fields. I just want him to get off annoying and ****ing with people in a disturbing and jerkish manner, but non-lethal: wedgies, the gluing pubes to face thing, forced head shaving, playing pranks on other Super-heros (its not like they can do a damn thing about it).

He's not a killer, just a douche-bag, you know? It'd sort of be a blend of the tone of the comic covers above, with a little more adult type humor thrown in (just nowhere near the level of the Boys).

Thats how I'm envisioning this cash-cow, anyway.

Speaking of which, I think Moonmaster should write it if Ennis isn't available or willing.

I agree entirely.

Basically, Norm McDonald as Superman.

Batman's got to be a total douchebag too.

Yeah, just with a thicker neck.

Actually, I was thinking it'd be even funnier if Batman were the straight one to Superman's jokester. Sort of fashion Batman after the Adam West portrayal from the old tv show, and be the target of many of Supes' pranks. Especially pedophile jokes about Batman and Robin. Slow acting itching powder in the tights, timed to start working just as Batman and Robin stop a bank robbery? Forcibly cross-dressing Alfred? Dropping Commissioner Gordon into Arkham Asylum? Trying to buy a newspaper with Batman's giant penny?

Basically, Batman would sigh a lot in reluctant acceptance and resignation, and Superman would be laughing in the background.

Re: New Batman Animated Series to Air on Cartoon Network

Just a reminder, this airs next week.

Also, apparently Blue Beetle is voiced by that guy from Boy Meets World. I was unaware he still had a career.

Niether, Will Friedle.

Actually, I just found he did Terry McGuinness and Ron Stoppable. Sweet.
Ah. When you said about the career, I assume one of them two, as yeah, he did those two characters (and still does for Kim Possible).

Wasn't Kim possible axed?

He's also does a character on Secret Saturdays.

So he does voice work for two shows on the same block.

Re: New Batman Animated Series to Air on Cartoon Network

Newsarama reported earlier this year Disney brought it back for more seasons.

I wonder how it will work. The last episode(or was it a movie?) wraped everything up nicely.

As for this show i'll probably give the first episode a try. And hey it has been years since Plastic man has been on TV.

Re: New Batman Animated Series to Air on Cartoon Network

I'm saying WB should be sure who they are aiming this at, batman amy have created to seel comics to kids, but the Dark Knight is certainly not for kids, so the kids tie ins are somewhat worrisome.
Batman was not created to sell comics for our kids.

He was created to sell comics, at a time when adventure, action and mystery was 'adult' entertainment to be consumed by the same cultural level of adult that watches HBO and action movies today.

Kids enjoyed him too, but that's because the concept of 'kid' was far less 'innocent' than it is today.

Re: New Batman Animated Series to Air on Cartoon Network

I just read that Batman is being voiced by Oswald from the Drew Carey Show?

How did this come to be?

It's like when I found out the lady who played Kate in the Drew Carey show, did the voice of Cleopatra in Clone High

Re: New Batman Animated Series to Air on Cartoon Network

He also voiced(off the top of my head) Zeta from BB and The Zeta project, Hoss Delgado from Billy and Mandy and some others i'm forgetting.
