I'm really glad I hopped back on this book with the Gauntlet. The last issue was exceptional though I felt that in giving Rhino I a new character arch it made the new one look rather flat in comparison. I trust Kelly though.
I'm also very thankful for the increase in artist quality. Rarely does art effect me but I almost put down the Electro issues based on art alone.

After finishing the book I realized that the Spidey book has truly been the best for me when they give the story a few more pages and made it a $4 book. Looking at the quality of this issue, the Punisher issue a few months ago and issue 600, I would be good for longer issues for $4 as a normal thing.

except I don't want to spend $12 a month on ASM alone

$12 + gst (goods and services tax, it's a Canadian thing)

EDIT: Is that Nova blacked out on the second cover?

Last time I saw Juggernaut he was flying through space after Skaar tossed him up there.

So, now he's back. From outer space.

I'm kinda surprised about Juggernaut since he's not really a major recurring Spider-Man villain, but I guess nobody else was using him. I also think that's Nova blacked out, but why bother?

Back in the 80s Roger Stern wrote a two-part story arc in Amazing Spider-Man entitled "Nothing Can Stop the Juggernaut"

It involves Juggernaut and Black Tom Cassidy trying to kidnap Madame Web.

It's a classic Spidey story. Considered by many to be one of the best.

I know but my point is that was 20 years ago, I mean Spidey has fought Doctor Doom more times than he's fought Juggernaut, I just find it kind of weird for Juggs to be part of The Gauntlet storyline.

i see your point. However, none of the Spidey vs Dr Doom stories are considered classics, "Nothing Can Stop the Juggernaut" is.

I'm not sure that Juggernaut will have a significant role in the Gauntlet or not. It may just be Marvel hoping fans will go, "Stern writing another Spidey/Juggernaut story?!?! FTW!"

who knows. But I am intrigued that the original story involved Madame Web and she seems to be a key player in 'The Gauntlet'

The Gauntlet has really brought us the best Spidey issues since the JMS/JRJR days... Glad to see that JJJ is a person again, and I am excited for the prospect of Peter working for Frontline... and the book actually has a supporting cast again. Let me repeat... SPIDER-MAN HAS A SUPPORTING CAST FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OVER A DECADE!!! I mean, beyond just Aunt May and MJ... It's just so refreshing.

If you're not reading Amazing, you should be.

#618, not bad.

Slott's picking up the story of the Maggia crime family from where he left it at the end of the very first arc of BND.

so in this most recent issue
Aunt May kicked Harry out of her house (Mr Negative corrupted her in the previous issue)

apparently he moves in with MJ in issue 621.

this kind of defeats the purpose of spoilering the last bit, but here we go

That's gonna cause some issues. I love this book so much right now!

#620... sort of an anti-climactic ending to a decent arc.

I enjoyed all the nods to previous Spidey stories.
Wantanabe having worked with DeWolfe and trusting Spider-Man as a result.
Silvermane
when Mysterio tried to convince Spidey that Captain Stacey was behind the whole thing (last issue)
even what Mysterio said to Spidey about being around behind the scenes in his life for a while messing things up for him was an obvious nod to Norman and the Clone Saga

I thought the scene where
he said he was Spidey's cousin
was hilarious
