All-Star Superman Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I still don't understand the massive following that goes with this title, but it's great fun and easily the best Superman title at the moment. The Bizarro language is frustrating instead of fun and the entire concept of them is blown way out of proportion.

That said, I'm looking forward to the next couple of issues.

I too, do not care for Bizarro speech at all. But some of the Bizarro gags we really good.

Also - I don't think this has a massive following. Maybe it does, I dunno.

"WIZARD: You're also getting close to the endgame of All-Star Superman. Have plans for the story changed as you and Frank Quitely worked on each issue?

MORRISON: No. The weird thing with that is that the entire story was worked out with a lot of detail. It was the first time I've ever done anything in that kind of Alan Moore method where you sit down and plan everything from beginning to end before you even start. Nothing's changed in it at all. I even worked out the 12 covers in a little notebook before Frank started, and they've all worked out exactly the same. The whole thing is a big story—it's Luthor's final revenge. The last two cliffhanger pages are great, I think. But there will be some more after. We're planning to do some All-Star specials with other artists.

WIZARD: Are the specials going to fit into the continuity of the previous 12 issues?

MORRISON: Yeah. It'll be the world of All-Star Superman, but you might get to see what it was like in the first year of his career or an adventure with the Legion of Super-Heroes—that kind of thing. There were a bunch of stories that I had left over because I knew we were only going to do 12. I had an idea for an All-Star Superman/Batman book, and a bunch of ideas for that ended up feeding into the notion of doing these specials."

:D

I just bought the Vol. 1 hardcover, and I just have one thing to say: I ****ing love this book!

Each issue is like its own little mini-story, like a mini-story inside a story. And Frank Quitely's art looks absolutely beautiful....I don't know if it's Quitely changing his style a bit, the colorist, the inker, or a combination of all three, but the art just looks so amazing.

What? You don't like Frank Quitely's artwork? I used to think that he made all the characters look Chinese and all the female characters look like really old grandmas, but I've kind of gotten used to it.

Never mind him; he's TOG.

The book - INCLUDING THE ART - is awesome.
