First look at January Jones as Emma Frost:

anyone else find it weird that they made her look like a guy in his mid thirties eating a chocolate bar while checking out a russian chick?

James McAvoy on playing Prof X

I think the fun about these films, when you go back and you either reboot or do a prequel, is you get to see how people became who they are. That means that you have to do them differently and by the end of the movie you have to do them the same way. The interesting journey is what happens to them, what changes them, what makes them evolve — not just mutate, but emotionally and psychologically evolve.

I would suggest by the end of the movie and the start of the next movie, it'll be more like what Patrick does. Or maybe not. Maybe it will still be in a period of flux, if there is a new movie.

I like what I've been reading about this movie.

I like that the movie is set in the 60's--especially the idea of paralleling JFK and MLK's visions of a brighter, more tolerable future with Xavier's of humans and mutants co-existing. Its been done to death in the comics, and the idea isn't a new one, but it'll be nice to see it addressed in an X-Men movie beyond just the usual "MUTANTS ARE EVIL AND DANGEROUS" stuff seen in the other movies, especially with its placement in that relevant time period.

Love that picture of Emma Frost/White Queen. As Langsta said, the look is perfect. Even if the other, more 60's inspired costumes only look half as good, I'll be very pleased.

Michael Fassbender as Magneto is going to be the greatest thing ever.

CBR:

Kevin Bacon discussed his role in the film with Philadelphia Style (via Comic Book Movie). "I'm more one of those sit-in-my-chair-and-destroy-the-world type of guys," he says of his Sebastian Shaw character. He's leaving the action to the younger guys.

CBR:

Comic Book Movie points to a thread on the Superhero Hype forums where a poster, player1, is answering spoilery questions about the production. He appears to be employed on the film in some capacity and is spilling all manner of details from costumes to plot threads. While I won't repost those things, here's a quote from player1 about his experience filming: "My absolute personal opinion, the entire time I spent on this film felt rushed and very 'last-minute'. We never knew what was going on, as far as the schedule went. They were rushing to finish before christmas. I feel like that might show in the final product, but maybe these guys can pull it off." It's always possible. We know Matthew Vaughn likes to work at speed and Fox brought him on because he could work within the budget and scheduling confines of the project.

I'm kinda looking forward to the X-Men being a period set franchise in the same way Indiana Jones or Sherlock Holmes are.

Everything about
Azazel
mentioned in that article just keeps killing any excitement I may have for this film. Out of all the villains you could have chosen I think he may be the worst.

Agreed, completely. :D Particularly because it means you have interesting time periods you can use to expand the series outward. It's not stuck in the same way as, say, Indiana Jones, where venturing into the future also takes you out of the context for the genre framework. The late sixties/early seventies counter-culture would be a great backdrop for a Phoenix story and the Reagan years could make an absolutely epic setting for a New Mutants adventure.

Look what's popped up. Still not a fan of "bumpy" Mystique.
