Wolverine - series discussion (spoilers)

Grow back from what?

Lets assume Wolverine is something like 5"5' with something like 90-100 kg (his bones are really heavy and not the way mothers describe their fat kids).

Where do suddenly 50-60 kg of mass appear out of thin air?

I can suspense my disbelief when Wolverine is burnt up, blown up or cut up but remove his entire body save for the bones and he still gros back?
That was taking it a "little" bit too far.

I'd also like to see him replenish his body reserves for once after he does major healing.. something like raiding the fridge at X-Mansion and eating everything but the fridge.

Welcome!

A few days after the last issue came out I noticed something. Wolverine says that anything close to Nitro isn't affected by his blast. So Wolverine isn't worried about getting blasted again. What struck me was the question why was Namorita killed in the blast? She was practically standing on his chest when he blew up and by Wolverine accessment should have been fine. I think they're going to use this fact to explain her return.

How can you regrow skin if there's no nutrients or skin in the first place. What about days of future past when he was fried by the sentinel?

DOn't even try Hibiki. I've been having this argument for years upon years and never made any headway. They even keep a copy of an old Uncanney annual where he regenerates from a drop of blood behind the counter at my LCS to shut me up.

...

..I need to get out more :(

As long as there's something left of Wolverine (skin and etc.) it'll just regrow back duplicating itself or whatever.

He didn't grow back from there, far as I know. He was COMPLETELY fried there. Nothing left but the metal skeleton.

Then they're stupid. That was only due to some magic crystal. With no crystal, he can't ever do that.

Heres the real question. Is wolverines skull airtightand fireproof so that the effects of nitro's blast couldn't get to his brain, otherwise why isn't he a vegtable?

It doesn't matter his brain cells probably regenerate..

But would the information be retained in new cells? If you pull out your computers hard drive and snap a new spiffy one in it doesn't have all your files...

These things bug me.

Well, seeing as how he's not a Dell computer (name brand, tell them jenny sent you), I would say he's mutant and they'll think of whatever makes sense in their heads. They can have him fly b/c that's what he does, he's a mutant.

In the same regards where does The Hulk's extra mass appear from?
Ambient energy converted into matter.

Also Wolverine's brain probably survived in his scull, but its still WAY too much, beyind his physical limit.

Easy on the Starbucks man.

Just so you know, a future issue of Wolverine will explain how he survived the blast from Nitro so I assume that it's not as easy as he healed because of his healing factor.

Wolverine #45

No one's posted about this yet?

Wolvie and Namor duke it out a little and Wolvie seemingly kills or at least disables Namor, but when his back is turned Namor gets up and hits him from behind rendering him unconscious.

When Wolverine wakes up, he follows the trail to the edge of water and proceeds to call Iron Man. He's reluctant to help ultil Wolverine tells him about the sleeper agents and points out that there might be more of them. Next we see Iron Man swimming towards Atlantis. He goes to face Namor, they don't actually agree and claws pop out of Iron Man's hands. Wow, it's Wolverine in Iron Man's armor! He gets one hit at both Janus and Namor and then captures the female sleeper agent and threatens to kill her if they don't give Nitro back to him.

Namor reluctantly leads Wolvie to where the other male sleeper agent is interrogating him, but they find Nitro has killed him and is holding the blade thing. The agent with his dying breath says the name Walter Declun and Wolverine cuts off Nirto's hand rendering him helpless. He almost kills Nitro, but at the last second decides he belongs to the Atlanteans.

Later, Wolverine sits ina bar and Namor walks in. He tells him the name of Walter Declun and that he's the CEO of Damage Control Inc. I guess we know where Wolverine is heading next...

I'm really enjoying this Civil War arc, the only thing I don't like is the art.

Btw, on the letter page someone asks about how Wolverine could regenerate after the blast from Nitro, and there's a reply by Guggenheim, who says how it's been done before and maybe his brains survived inside the adamantium skull and all that, and proceeds to say that it will be somehow touched upon in #48.

I was getting ready to...

This is one of the few CW tie-ins I look forward to. So much better than a couple others like X-Men or New Thunderbolts.

Anyways...pretty decent issue. I'm really interested in this conspiracy sub-plot. It adds a little more depth to Millar's "Hero Vs Hero" angle.

I think my fav thing about the book may be the art. I've been gravitating away from "realistic" art like Finch, Hitch, Turner, etc....and being drawn more to a cartoonistic aspect. Stuff like Humberto Ramos, Alvin Lee, Skottie Young, etc. But that's aside the point.

All in all---not a bad issue.

3.5/5

And the whole debate on how can Wolverine regenerate himself is just dumb......but at least the writer touched on it and had the same view as me.
