I picked this up and read it at the LCS yesterday. It was god awful. Mad's art is cool but it doesn't make this book worth buying, so I didn't. The crappy one-liners and overall lack of coherent story in the terms of the UU just made it unbearable. There are some major continuity issues (Pyro, for example) that just made me groan.

I hate Jeph Loeb because of this. I hope the next creative team retcons this entire volume of the Ultimates out of existence.

And too dark, as well. I can understand using darker tones to give story that feel to it, but I think it's overdone.

I don't understand it; it looks like they are trying to duplicate the look you get when you print on glossy paper. And each issue it gets progressively worse.
