Ultimate Spiderman #101 discussion (Spoilers)

You guys are being so negative. While this wasn't the best part of the Clone Saga by far, it certainly wasn't the god-awful piece of **** you are making it out to be.

"Sins Past" deserves a 0/5.

I liked Sins Past MUCH more than I liked this. At least that storyline had proper characterizations, and was a good story, despite not really being a great editorial choice.

You are correct to a point. We are being negative...but that's because of the issue.

There are other Spidey stories out there that suck worse than this. I'm looking at you "Others".

"The Other" was teh suxx0r.

If I may correct myself, Dr. Strangefate, I loved the first 3 parts of Sins Past; I do agree that it was well-written and drawn nicely. But when #512 came out, it just did not sit well with me at. All.

"Sins Remembered" was even worse. :)

You crazy. "Sins Past" was great. :D

At it's worst USM has always had great characterizations (unless it's Ultimate Deadpool).

woah..Dr Strangefate got zapped by Bendis on his board! nice!
Seriously..Sins Past was crap. Talk about spitting in the long time fans faces!!
But anyways..I hope 102 covers alot more ground, than this one. We all know Bendis is capable of so much more than this, though it was great to see the FF.

What he said was bush league. Seriously.

"let me share with you a little writing lesson" - nice to talk down to the people buying your books. What a douchey thing to say.

And he acts like just because they had a scene early on that precludes them from being a deux ex machina. Give me a break. It was a deus ex machina if I've ever seen one. Their prior involvement in the story makes no difference. They had ZERO involvement in that scene.

At least when Warren Ellis is an ******* he's funny about it.

I agree, that was pretty rude of him to say. Maybe Bendis ain't the guy I thought he was....:(

Just want to say, Lynx- they'res no Asgard yet. Yes, it was said we would see it, but people seem to assume its the actual Asgard. We don't know that.

Anyways, I've never seen so much hatred for a comic! Not even UIM!

I haven't read the issue, though I have read what happened. I hate to even admit I'm not bothered by it as much as everyone else is here. I'm not saying I thought anything was excellent, just doesn't phase me like it did for E, MWF, VVD, etc.

I feel like i get several awesome-points for being talked down to by Brian Michael Bendis.

But seriously. When a plot device is used in which a character or characters interupt the major action at the most convenient moment, at which point the hero can no longer bail himself out without surrendering or dying (or in this case, losing his powers), and the hero is saved by these characters... That is a Deus ex machina. That is God coming down from the heavens and saving the day... Its what the Greeks used to do when they didn't know how to end plays... and it seems like every story for a WHILE now gets snatched out of peter's hands before he can resolve it... remember when he actually followed through and took down the Kingpin? Or when he had to handle things by himself without SHIELD or sheer coincidence getting in the way? Seriously,When is the last time Peter had to rely on himself and not luck in this comic?

ALSO: I'm at one of the top writing schools in the goddamn country, and he went to the Jewish Academy of Cleveland. I don't need a ****ing writing lesson from a guy who hasn't written a single great comic book in the last year or so...

See I was politely unhappy with the issue before, but now I'm pissed off at the writer. That's no good, now is it?

EDIT: He ALSO could have addressed any one of my other points... You know, the ones that actually have precedent on what happened during the issue...

It's that bad. And the killer thing is that up until that last scene it was a good issue! The UFF as a deus ex machina didn't even bother me - it totally surprised me and given the location they were at it wasn't at all implausible.

It was worse than UIM. There's something about ruining a supporting character that's worse than ruining a major character. I really couldn't explain why I feel that way, but I do.

I agree. I feel bad that he talked to you like he did. Nothing you said deserved that.

Welcome to the land of the enlighten

Oh I am not quite there yet because I am sure he is just having a bad day. :D

Just kidding, but hopefully MJ does get her "powers" taken away from her at the end of the arc.
