Actually, the link between the powers is in his name. See, Lithium (the poster) names himself in reference to Kurt Cobain of Nirvana who was depressed and took the drug lithium, which is an anti-depressant (hence, the happy powers). However, lithium is also used in lithium batteries (for calculators and any other number of household appliances). So I thought, since his name is Lithium, he could have both.
