They don't look very "Norse" to me. Too metallic or something.

Agreed.

They should add Beta Ray Bill to give it some mythological credibility.

All kidding aside though, the whole "alien progenitors" sci-fi conceit has never really done anything for me. OTOH, I'm not sure I'd find a more mythic approach any more interesting either.

what i mean is that i makes very little difference to the story.

Of course it makes a difference, in subtext if nothing else.

Imagine a Biblical epic where God is actually the ancient Plutonian Zehovaz. Something tells me it would be a pretty different interpretation from, say, The Greatest Story Ever Told.

Um... okay. So, Helmsworth is a totally fine Thor. No problem.

But the scene looks bad. Either because of the music, directing, coreography, or all three. Perhaps because it's out of context. But it looks like a fanfilm.

The only thing that sets it apart from fan films is that Helmsworth is great.

Did anyone notice the "Stark" mug on the kitchen counter? Sheesh. I'm waiting for a commercial with Iron Man telling everyone to see Thor.

i love the dog's name.

EDIT: and there is a Thor action figure behind the doll

AND the car's license is A5G 4RD

I was going to go see this yesterday but I couldn't find any screenings that weren't in 3D.

As this isn't out over in the colonies yet, I will keep to spoiler tags if needed.

This film rocks. There were a few slightly cheesy moments, but all in all a great, fun film and another blinder from Marvel Studios.

Awesome
Thor fighting the Frost Giants
The Destroyer scene
Most of the comedy moments
Warriors Three/Sif/Heimdall

Not So Awesome
3D wasn't worth it (although it was a free showing so its all good)
Thor finding himself seemed a little quick

Best Moments
Thor laying the smackdown on the Frost Giant Monster Thing
"I need a horse!"
Hawkeye.

There is a post credits scene, which was awesome.
Dr. Selvig is taken to a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility where he meets Nick Fury. Fury explains that he wants Selvig to study the recently-discovered Cosmic Cube, which holds infinite power. Selvig agrees as it is revealed that he is being mind-controlled by Loki, who is seeking revenge.
