How would you rate Thor?

I have to wonder how well this movie is going to do financially. We're talking about a lesser known Marvel character here. Sure, people said that about Iron Man and it turned out to be a giant success, but I would say that the character lends itself better to the mainstrem than Thor would. Any thoughts? It could work, but for the sake of debate I think it will be a tougher sale. Of all the movies that Marvel has coming out in the next few years, this seems like it is the one that may do the worst. It will be interesting to see however.

I think it will do well

so well it will start a resurgence in Norse worshipping, and then people will legally be allowed to carry swords around with them because it will fall under two rights, choose your religion, and bare arms. then we'll have to deal with a sword registry database. causing an outctry in the right wing norcicists, and Glen Bekenthorpe will promote grand douchebaggery on the Fenris network.

It will be hel

DAMN YOU MARVEL

Marvel Studios Chief was quoted to say,
"We will probably be having cast announcements in the next month or so on 'Thor. We're looking to cast Loki and Odin soon, and the main female role."

For months now rumors have been flying about actor Josh Hartnett may be up for the role of Loki and actress Natalie Portman was up for the Main Female role. So now we'll see how reliable those rumor are.

also Kenneth Branagh the director of the movie has said they should be able to start filming as early next year which was also confirmed by Marvel's Studio Chief. Marvel's Chief went on to say the writer Zak Penn has been looking in on the movies Thor, Captain America, & Iron Man to tie all the movies together for the upcoming "Avengers" movie. And he's beginning to outline the script now.

Newsarama spoke with writer Brian Micheal Bendis about various Marvel happenings. In the interview, he gave a brief glimpse into his involvement with the film. He says, "When Kenneth Branagh was hired for Thor, they flew us out and we got to spend the day listening to a seven-hour performance of what he imagines the 'Thor' movie would be." He called Branagh's pitch "Shakespearean." Unlike many productions, which disregard the source material, Bendis says the Marvel films have an unusual amount of commutation between the screenwriters and comic scribes. "They've asked me to be part of this team of guys who they pick their brains and take their advice. And for me it's great to watch these writers deal with it and handle it. Watching them is a lot of fun," Bendis says.

Also, Comics2Film at mania.com says all the scuttle about constant Branagh collaborator Brian Blessed appearing in the film is false.

Natelie Portman is Jane Foster

Marvel Studios announced today that Academy Award® nominated actress Natalie Portman has been cast to star as Jane Foster in the studio's highly anticipated movie Thor. In the early "Thor" comics, Jane Foster was a nurse who became Thor's first love. The character will be updated for the feature adaptation

EDIT: oh, sorry that's the same link that Hellsbuttmonkey already posted
