How would you rate Thor?

I wish Brian Blessed had been cast as Odin. It just seemed perfect. Plus Blessed doesn't need any voice alteration. In fact he doesn't need a microphone or anything like that. He's the loudest, most booming person in all creation.....

That's a pretty decent ensemble.

I like the logic here. Surround your lead with a strong supporting cast, that way the entire film doesn't rest all on the newbie.

To appease the rabid fanboys on costumes, what I'd do is follow Random's idea for story. Opening to the film would be a battle similar to the opening in Gladiator. In the battle, I'd have Thor in the classic 616 costume. He'd win, then we'd watch him celebrate in a most immature manner.

Then he'd be banished to Earth to learn humility. Blah blah blah....Asgard is overthrown by Loki. Odin bequeaths his power to Thor to help him return.

Upon rediscovering his lineage and who he is, when he transforms back into Thor, he'd have the current costume. And then....to please the Ultimate Thor fanboys...in the final battle, Mjöllnir would be cracked or damaged...Thor is then bestowed his Ultimate hammer/axe as a ultimate weapon of sorts. Or maybe even have that as Odin's hammer....which is then passed onto Thor.

Sweet, sweet validation. Though I would bother with the Ultimate Hammer. And I wouldn't mind his current 616 version as long as he has a beard and sans helmet and cape in the last half.

I personally think Thor looks most awesome with the Nordic beard. But for some strange reason nobody wants to draw him that way.

Agreed. What kind of Norse god sports a clean-shaven look? Thats like the pope wearing a speedo: its just not right on several levels.

I mean if you want him clean shaven for the opening old costume and his time as Donald Blake (which is WAY wrong from a casting standpoint seeing as how they are 2 DIFFERENT PEOPLE!) then fine.

But when he shows back up as big bad super-juiced Thor....he should at least have a ****ing goatee!

Honestly, a goatee would be worse than clean-shaven. Norse gods do not sport stylish facial hair, they sport full on Nordic love hair. No razors or clippers, please, just a bush on his face.

I wouldn't mind just a week or two worth of growth, just not electric-smooth

Ray Stevenson is great casting. Hopefully they find a way to turn him into a fat guy without making him look ridiculous.

They kind of did it with Kevin Durand as The Blob in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He kind of looked ridiculous, but The Blob is kind of ridiculous anyway.

I'm not familiar with Thor's supporting characters

Is Hogun an Asian Norse god?

Racist.

Stringer Bell joins Thor.

Everyone is joining this movie.

Oh, just great, we have white people, yellow people, and now black people in this movie .... Thor is a Norse icon, there should be real Asgardians in this movie!
