The Dark Knight {Spoilers Abound}

Got the two-disc DVD today. I was happy that it had the Batpod cover, which I think is a great, strikingly unique image and from the ads it looked like it was the official Blu-Ray cover while the "flaming bat" one was the official DVD cover. I love that image too, but I already have the poster of it in my room and wanted the other one for the DVD.

There was also this one that had that edition with another sleeve around it making the "official" cover for the set the "Why So Serious" smoked glass picture of the Joker, and it came wither a journal of some kind. Hadn't heard about that. Is that the one you got Langsta?

Mine never had the slip cover. Mine's just the Joker cover which I think is in side slipcases but the bluray was wrapped and new when I got it from the shop just no case like websites show.

Golden Globes Don't Shine on Dark Knight

Los Angeles – Batman, meet your new foe: The Hollywood Foreign Press.

The Dark Knight, which had been picking all the right endorsements in the run-up to the Oscars, failed to win over Golden Globe voters, earning just one nomination.

Or, as many as Pineapple Express.

As expected, The Dark Knight's Heath Ledger was nominated posthumously in the supporting actor category for his acclaimed turn as the Joker.

As not expected, The Dark Knight didn't figure in anywhere else, not in the Best Drama race, not in the Best Director race.

If it could be argued the superhero blockbuster didn't translate to members of the Foreign Press, then how to explain James Franco's acting nomination for the all-American stoner hit, Pineapple Express?

Maybe the Riddler counted the ballots?

The Golden Globes? Really? I thought it would have more nominations there than at the Oscars. Yikes....

Random knew before you.

Whoa! I guess I really pulled a boner on that one.

You know, I think the movie would've probably worked better if Dent had killed Ramirez. Aside from just adding to the badassery of his character, it would've made the still-a-mystery "five dead, two of them cops" line make more sense and tie up the now-loose end of a disgruntled corrupt cop knowing that Dent became a psychopath.

Yeah. That and they should have completely done away with Mr. Reese and his whole storyline. He didn't serve the story at all and was a waste of time.

He drove the entire storyline with the hospital and Joker/Dent sequence. He was needed for that. And it was another element for the Bruce Wayne story, which is a good thing.

Could we presume Gordon thought Ramirez was dead when he said Dent killed two cops?

I don't get why you'd drop the Reese business, especially since it completely and inexoribly drove like a quarter of the movie. You might as well say you'd drop the whole Lau plot.:?

Maybe, but it's still forcing the story to work rather than it just working.

And I still think it would've been more impactful for Dent's character, and they wouldn't have her know what "really" happened, etc.

Ramirez died.

Two-Face punched her with the intent of KO'ing her, but she's a WOMAN. And women are fragile. Thus, the punched killed her. Because women are weak.

He hardly drove the storyline. Sure, the Joker blows up the hospital because nobody kills him but that was hardly needed in the story. Why not just have him blow up the hospital for the hell of it? Reese wasn't needed for that exchange between Joker and Harvey. Reese took some of the spotlight off of the main storyline and really added nothing of value to it.

But Mr. Reis

Mister Reis

Misteries

Mysteries!

?

Yeah, I've heard that. My problem with that is that the actor playing Mr. Reis (sorry for apparently spelling it wrong) is definitely not intimidating/creepy/menacing enough to play the Riddler. He just doesn't come across as a legitimate threat to Batman. Sure, Scarecrow wasn't a big menacing threat but he at least had creepiness in spades. I can't picture taking this guy seriously as a villain.

yeah, I was being sacastic

Reis shouldn't be the Riddler, at most I'd take him as a hint for things to come
