Runaways Vol. 2 #1-24 (Brian K. Vaughan/Adrian Alphona) (spoilers)

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoliers)

I looked through next week's issue, and the ending...

Let's lable it under "Holy ****" just by the looks of it.

What she said.

Proj, does your LCS not observe the annual Free Comic Book Day? I'm fairly certain it's meant to be an international event, and it's definitely practiced over here (but with the number of industry pros based in Luzon alone, that's kinda expected).

It does, but then again, I don't have a LCS. The nearest one is 3 hours away, and I'm pretty sure he's not going to waste his time sending a free comic up to me. :D

Runaways 2 #11. 12/21

BEST RUNAWAYS ISSUE EVER!!

Orderlie's hanging by Dagger in the hospital. Dagger begins to glow violently.

Molly's playing around in the church and talks to Cloak. Cloak feels drained and goes to the basement to rest, leaving Molly and Father Lantom alone.

Spider-Man/Vic/Gert
Wow... just wow. How great is this interaction? I won't tell you word for word how it went but it was plenty of oneliners from Spidey and sarcasm from Gert. The playing off of each other was brilliant Spider-Man admits he doesn't always see as the other Avengers do and wants to help clear Cloaks name.

Chase/Nico
The Cloak-MGH Dealer threatens Nico and Chase. But Chase pulls off an amazing act saying that he works for the pride giving the pusher a major hard on and saving their lives. Chase also goes into a story about when he was 16 he killed a carjacker with his barehands and wasn't taking **** from anyone. When they get the name of who might be impersonating Cloak, they leave through the mirror and end up in some old rundown building. Nico kisses Chase and Chase backs off. Nico says she doesn't know why she did it and she thinks she's evil. Chase says he is and Nico goes back to the story about the carjacker. Chase doesn't want to talk about it.

Spider-Man/Vic/Gert
Spider-Man treats the two to dinner at a Sushi bar and he talks about kids with powers. Gert sticks it to him with some debating and Spider-Man says, "You are so going to be an Avenger someday". It was great.

Nico and Chase walk in and they falsely accuse Spider-Man of holding Vic and Gert hostage. Nico subdues him with a "Dream" spell. Victor says he was trying to help but Gert says they can't trust anyone. They find that the drugs were sold to a guy named Reginald Mantz who works at the hospital.

Dagger
The orderlie is being taken back by Dagger's light and tells her to stop and says crazy stalker stuff like I'm gonna take care of you" and "I've loved you ever since..." Then he turns into a Cloak look alike.

Molly/Father Lantom
Father gives Molly a cell phone and says if she ever needs anything and running gets boring to call him. They're interrupted by Captain American, Iron Man and Wolverine. Cap recognizes Molly. Last panel shows Wolverine lunge at them and Molly screaming. /END

Thoughts...

Chase is the coolest Runaway ever!!! And damn I'm pissed he didn't get with Nico.

The whole theme of the kids not trusting anyone with Spider-Man was awesome. Victor really seems naive and I feel like while the other learn to trust other people, Victor will be hurt badly having him turn to his original destiny.

Wolverine had no reason to do what he did and I doubt he stabbed anyone with his claws. It was cute to see Molly all obsessed with him when he walked in and then her screaming like that. I wonder how it went down.

The Cloak storyline... is cool but really is so overshadowed by the rest of the awesomeness. I am looking forward to his probably saving Father Lantom (if he's not some kind of evil) and Molly and his interaction with the NA.

5/5 AWESOME

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoliers)

Totally. Rocked.

Spidey was funny as hell, and dear God, Molly is my favourite Runaway. It was a great issue, everyone got a chance to shine, and Molly's love for Wolverine at the end of the issue had me in stitches.

She's so cute.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoliers)

MWF didn't we call it? We totally called it, dude. This deserves an interner high five.

*High five*

Oh? What did we call, you ask?

From Vaughan in Wizard:

"The new Pride will be at the center of an upcoming 5-part adventure [starting with April's #15] which has one old Runaway returning, while another member of the team...well, let's just say this one might not have a happy ending."

Again, high five.

*High five*

If you're talking about Alex returning, then practically everyone knew that. Or at least, I did.

What I qutoed was what Vaughan said. Meaning this just gives us like, more of a confirmation.

As for the MGH Pusher, I found it interesting. I can't wait until next issue.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoliers)

on the last issue; it seemed like it was a little bit forced in someplaces. like things had to be said. but with the way that BKV writes at times it works out for the better. this time....i don't know. chase and Neko just seemed very forced.

 Wrong. Moving on.

I mean. ****. I suppose I have to explain myself now... How could you say that? I can't say what it is about Nico at this point but she either is looking for companionship or ready to **** things up because she is "evil". It didn't seemed forced to me at all.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoliers)

i find it very funny that your first repsonce to my opinion is wrong. remember not everyone sees things the way you do. and as for a reason you'll get one when i get back later tonight, now its off to 8+ hours of school.

The wide eyed smiley is meant for amusement. As in I know everyone has differen't opinions that's just me disagreeing with urs. I like saying "Wrong" instead of "I disagree" they just mean the same thing.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoliers)

Runaways #12 (did we drop the 2?)

"198 Mutants left on Earth and she's gotta be one of them." - Wolverine after getting tossed out of the church and on his *** by Molly

So we pick it up where Wolverine is "attacking" Molly and father Lantam. Only he wasn't attacking just sort of flexing his muscles. Molly's screams were just as a little girl would do. Acting all bratty. The interaction was great with Molly and The New Avengers as they can't control the little girl. Molly tosses her former obsession out of the church and denounces him. Cloak wants to surrender until Iron Man gets a call that Cloak's been spotted at the hospital. Cloak and Molly disappear before Cap can stop them.

The fake Cloak is on the roof of the hospital with Dagger still unconscious. The remaining Runaways show up and he uses his powers to subdue all of them. Knocking Gert off the roof. She's saved by Victor. Nico tries to use light spell on him but it backfires and Nico is knocked down. With Chase the last one standing, he takes the Staff of One and succesfully uses a "Detox" spell that strips the poseur of his MGH.

Cloak and Molly show up and Dagger wakes up. Dagger doesn't remember at first but then asks if they're the Pride's kids. She then asks where's Alex.

The Nu Pride is hanging out. Their faces aren't shown but it's a kid with a Punisher shirt, a chick, and the fat kid, with their leader (Alex?). They talk about the abstract and it seems there's more then one that delves into the Pride's past. "Alex" reveals that by the years end a Runaway will die.

Yeah the issue was good....but they've had better.

Molly and the Avengers scene was great. Who's the best at what they do now?

Do you really think it's Alex at the end though? I thought he was incinerated? I think it might be someone else.

I can only guess that the Nu Pride are the offsprings the Runaways' parent's rival clan. I don't really know what to think about that. I was pretty hyped at the thought that the Pride was coming back. But now that it looks like it's another group.......I'm a little disappointed.

Snap out of it, man!! It's Alex. It has to be. Anyone else would just be completely lame on Vaughan's part and BKV is anything but lame. How many other African American children with connections to The Pride would be watching The Runaways so closely? Get pysched!
