PS3 Discussion

I'm surprised they resisted the urge to use Eleanor (either version), Bullitt (a little simple I digress), Deathproof (COME ON), an Italian Job mini (come on just perfect for burnout), Bonds DB5, The F&F Charger, The Vanishing Point Car, Batmobile.

I could go on but I won't

yes I love car movies

Totally agree on every single one.

Shocking piece of great news

IGN declares PS3 the best overall console of 2008

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/939/939461p1.html

they averaged out all the scores of all the games they've reviewed over the year for 360, PS3, and Wii and through various analysis's the PS3 came out on top in every segment

Keep in mind that PS3 see's the fewest actual releases of the big 3, and 360 and Wii get a hell of alot more shovelware (especially Wii oh my god).

I've always suspected that this forum is filled with rational people, so I'm posting this without fear of a console war breaking out, so I'm leaving it to you all to be mature about it.

Something for Burnout Paradise. Directly from the Playstation Blog.

Yeah, I kinda made a mess when I saw that.

 That is ****ing awesome. I'll buy the game just for that and I'm not joking.

I might too. That's a great idea to use famous movie/TV cars like that.

As for Blu-Ray. . .are you kidding me? Do you remember the last time Sony said "This is the way of the future!" Because I do. It was called Betamax. And what happened with Betamax? It went nowhere. Blue-Ray is about 5 years too early. You want the next format of media?

HD-DVD. Its way more affordable then Blu-Ray and the two formats are almost identical. The only difference right now is the hardware.

So, I'm sorry, its not worth 600 dollars.

Tee hee.

Don't get me wrong....if I was a parent and my kid wanted it--as long as I could buy the system and still be financially comfortable--I'd do it. It's all part of the "give my kids everything I never had" thing.....but I'd still make sure they understood the value of the dollar and hard work and all that jazz.

It's just part of good parenting.

*snicker*

So I was reading this thread again for some strange reason.

I forgot how horrible that argument really was.

You guys sounded like Planet-Man and Blu-Ray.

And now both E and Lynx has a PS3.

I got one after the price came down significantly and I was given a Circuit City gift card that almost paid for the whole thing.

I wasn't happy about switching to XBox 360. But I wanted a next-gen console. I just wasn't going to pay $700 for it.

I was never anti-PS3 or anything.

I was just amazed how many were ripping apart the 500 dollar tag.

It is so much more than a game console for me. I use it daily. I have run out of disc space lots of times.

I think that was the problem for me. All I would want is just a game console. I don't care about downloading movies and shows, the systems having dvd players, etc. It's why I didn't care that Nintendo wasn't going to put a DVD player in the Wii after all. That's fine. I want a game system to play games. Whether or not it can do the other stuff doesn't really matter to me.

But I'll see if I can save up to buy one maybe during the summer where I have a lot more hours of work. There are games that I still want to play that are only on the PS3. We'll see. Not saying for sure I'll do it, but we'll see.

I don't disagree, but it was still $700 (the $500 was the "cheap" version).

See, I'm the exact opposite, I bought the PS3 for the fact that it was a Media Center and a Game Console. Because seriously, buying a game console, then turning around and buying an AppleTV/SlingBox/etc, and then a Blu-Ray Player on top of that would be just too much money, getting it all in one was a much wiser financial decision.

Me too in a way. I had a choice between 360 and ps3. and in order to get what I wanted from both I would need :

Console : 360 (elite) £230 ps3 £300
HDMI - 360 : n/a ps3 £20
Wireless 360 : £55 ps3 n/a
charger 360 : £13 ps3 n/a
hd-dvd/bluray : £113 ps3 n/a

total = 360 £411 ps3 = £320 (plus free internet)

So I bought it for games , Bluray and it's cheaper for what I want

Well, I was thinking more like

Game Console $250 (Wii) or $350 (360)
Blu-Ray Player $500+ (at the time)
SlingBox or AppleTV $250

total = between $1000 and $1100

so yeah $425 was a bit of a steal.

Ah. Yeah same idea just different things we are looking for. But on a seprate note I'm still annoyed ps3's don't come with hdmi cables as Bluray is the big feature and they don't give you a good cable to use it on, just normal scart? then the bluray is rendered useless till you buy the cable you want.

Also I didn't know Apple did tvs, I now I do.

Yeah, I'm still baffled by that myself, granted now a days you can get a 6' cable for $25.

And the AppleTV isn't a TV, it's a set top box that lets you stream or move media from your computer to your TV. The nice thing, there's a $20 application that lets you do that with a PS3 and a Mac. So score one for me!

 ... well it's easy to make that mistake based on the name

Can you do it with pc and ps3? I don't have a mac.
