It *is* related to martial arts to an extent, but I agree that no one should pretend that it somehow makes DBZ deeper than it really is. I mean that principle pretty much describes a narrative trope definitive of shounen anime/manga, so it doesn't exactly 'distinguish' DBZ in any way to make it special or whatever.
Not to be a backseat mod, but I wish all these DBZ arguments (mine included) could be extracted into their own thread. It's kind of getting annoying now.
It is not. Martial arts is the most important part of my life. I've been studying since I was 6. It has nothing to do with martial arts besides having people mindlessly fight.
However, I'm sick of the DBZ argument too. This'll probably be my last post on the subject.
In an unrelated subject...I had planned on catching up in the Naruto anime, and typed "Naruto" into youtube. And you know what kept popping up? Videos which insisted that their was a "yaoi" pairing between Naruto and Sasuke. While I don't have a problem with real shounen-ai pairings, why do people insist on obviously straight characters being gay?
