Ourchair's Awesome Anime Thread

Stick with it to episode 6 at least, that's when story lines start to come together, if you still can't get into it then I can't fault you. Also, for those that do like it, the anime Durarara! that started last week seems to have a similar tone to Baccano! (huge cast of characters, multiple story lines, etc.) except that it's in modern Tokyo rather than 1930's America.

just read all 39 pages of this thread.....wow

all i do at work is watch TV, about 6 months ago i started running out of TV shows and movies to watch so (name a show, i got an opinion) , while on Hulu.com i discovered Naruto. i know that alot of you don't like it, but i enjoyed it. (i skipped around and watched different arcs....skipped what bore me)

below is a list of the last 10 Anime i have watched. the last few within the month....i have tried to link them all to a legal site if you wish to watch them.

10: kki-tousen i watched it cuz i was bored......its a cheap, low grade rip off of tenjou_tenge not really worth the time unless your into the almost henti crap

9:Shangri-la all 26 episodes are there.
Shangri-La- Another pretty anime, Tokyo is covered in jungle/forest because the world uses Carbon Credits, and you get penalized for emitting too much (or something like that). The main heroine is just finishing her sentence at girl prison, then she goes back to her home and we find out she is the heir to the Metal Age (an anti-government) organization. She hangs out with some transvestites then fights the military with her big boomerang. I'm digging it so far. 4/
the ending sucked but it was ok, especially if you think how close we are to a carbon tax.

8: kekkaishi Hulu only has 7 episodes up but u can find them online.
Mystical forces are powerful in the region called Karasumori. For over 400 years, it has been the duty of a clan of Kekkaishi—barrier masters—to guard the land, exterminating the supernatural beasts which appear there night after night.

i found this to be enjoyable and yes the main charter is always late to school, in the manga it got very interesting

7:The Sacred Blacksmith

this was on of those few that i enjoyed because it was serious but also just enough silly mixed in.

6: 11Eyes
they are transported to a different world where an enormous, fiery black moon ebbs and flows in the blood-red colored sky. Taken aback by this "Red Night" world as well as the bizarre monsters that exist there, Kakeru and Yuka must either learn to fight to survive, or perish

this is based on a game (never played it). i always kept coming back to see who would die next

5:Heroic-age
Long ago, the advanced Tribe of Gold vanished from the vast universe. In the void left by their departure, the tyrannical Tribe of Silver ascended to rule, forcing mankind – the Iron Tribe – to the brink of extinction. Now humanity wanders the cosmos in search of a savior. Prophesy has foretold of one who will labor for their freedoms, and on a planet of ruin, a champion is found. A feral boy named Age holds the destiny of their species in his hands and the untold power of the Tribe of Hero within.

this takes a little getting use to, but it was the way the animation was done the did me in

4: enjou-tenge/
the story primarily focuses on the members of the Juken Club and their opposition, the Executive Council, which is the ruling student body of a high school that educates its students in the art of combat. As the story unfolds, both groups become increasingly involved with an ongoing battle that has been left unresolved for four hundred years.

this is one of those mature anime, but it was the theme song that did me in, its sad they only gave it 24 esp. the storyline in the manga tuned out to very interesting. that and they had a black guy.

3: Sword of the Stranger - very enjoyable, who hate cold, heartless blood shed, in the name of immortality

2: shikabane-hime

Makina Hoshimura is one of the living dead. If she is to ever find peace, she must hunt down and destroy her own kind

the concept was nicely done

1:buso-renkin
High school student Kazuki Muto thinks he's saving a girl from a monster, but it turns out that he's the one who needs saving! Kazuki is killed while fighting a homunculus, a malevolent creature that feeds on humans. The girl, Tokiko Tsumura, revives him by replacing his heart with an alchemical device called a kakugane.

the story was written very well, with enough action and human interaction to make it work. it has its funny moments to.

i've tried to watch FMA and Death Note, but could not get into them.

i also watch as ongoing is Naruto, Fairy Tail, Inuyasha - The Final Act, and Reborn

again the list is only the last 10 that i've watched, not top 10

Which FMA do you watch because I hate Full Metal Alchemist. FMA: Brotherhood on the other hand is delightfully accurate to the manga and a blast to watch the action sequences come to life.

i tried both the original and the new one, didn't like either one, just something about it.

I'm embarrassed to say I've watched Ikki-Tousen. Kekkaishi is an awesome manga though. Also, I can't recommend the animes Black Lagoon, Baccano!, Darker Than Black and Basquash! enough.

i didn't see the last couple of chapters coming in Kekkaishi, all the hype and build up to protect the land and then -poof- the bombshell, wonderfully done

i watched Black lagoon, it was ok, nothing to special about it.

i'll try to give Darker than Back another chance

Did you watch the anime then transfer over to the manga?

The plots of neither are nothing profound or anything, but the action and characters more than make up for it.

So I've been checking out some of the winter anime and I gotta say it's pretty slim pickins' for anything new. Durarara! is pretty awesome and the best new anime by far, Katanagatari ain't bad in my opinion (though some might not like the art style), Dance in the Vampire Bund is decent so far (I'm digging the political intrigue), and lastly Darker than Black has some OVA's that seem to be filling in the gaps between seasons 1 and 2, so yay.

I feel I should also mention that I watched the movie Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Lagann-Hen movie the other night, it's basically a retelling of the second half of the tv series, and it actually succeeds in making the final battle with the Anti-Spirals even more epic and insane than the original series did! That shouldn't be possible but there it is.

i've been watching Omamori Himari.....i keep tuning in every week to see if the pacifist will become a killer.

does Durarara pick up after the first couple of episodes?

There's only three episodes out right now, in episode 2 a guy gets punched so hard half of his clothes fly off, and episode 3 details who and what the Headless Rider is. I don't know if that answers your question, though.

My bad there are four episodes out at the moment, yeah the second one is average, but I'd say it picks up after that.
